I decided to start driving home last night. Got to Birmingham at about 1:30pm and got up at 7, back on the road. Looks like I'll make it back to BR around 1:30-2pm. Thanks for the advice last night. It was the right call, especially since it's looking stronger and moving faster.

Anyone know where to find expected wind speeds and conditions in NOLA
waiting for the damn thing to stop going nnw and starting going N to determine how close it's going to get. Maybe 30-50 .. hopefully no more.

From the NHC forecast discussion.
quote:
2. Nate is forecast to reach Category 2 intensity before landfall. A hurricane warning is in effect for portions of the northern Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Alabama, with the strongest winds expected to occur primarily to the east of the center. Preparations to protect life and property should be rushed to completion in these areas, as tropical storm conditions will first arrive in the warning area this afternoon.

You can see the little low to the west of Nate starting to get trapped in the flow. It should start to get folded into Nate's circulation this afternoon. However, it did it's job of keeping the western side of Nate broad allowing for some dry air to get into the circulation.

So the a-hole who owns the house next door is renovating it himself and has a dumpster full of construction debris and a port-o-potty in front of the house and it's not covered or tied down or anything. Haven't seen him this morning yet. What would you guys recommend I do in case something happens with it or the debris in it?

Call the authorities since you don’t want debris hitting your house due to dumbass

Can you put a tarp over it?
Posted on 10/7/17 at 10:32 am to Cosmo
Yeah most likely, but there's a chance I'm going to get called into work and my wife and her elderly mother will be at our house and I want to cover my bases in case something happens and I'm not here.
I'm not going out to buy a tarp to cover this prick's trash. I'd rather sue him after if I need to.

I don't think it's forecast to make a N turn until it's very close to Louisiana's coast and then makes the NE turn.
