From the guy suggesting that the collapse of the entire gulf coast real estate market is a good thing that’s an interesting take.

Ran to costco to load up on water and baby oil. They had plenty of water and were out of baby oil

You're gonna leave, if this forecast looks like its gonna verify right?

Well... Do I continue my flight to Miami next week or not
Posted on 10/5/24 at 6:13 pm to Duke
Can't, baw. Military. Just trying to figure out whether I send my family somewhere else. We're in zone A on the water. House is three stories and raised six feet. Neighborhood flooded for Helene. Obviously my house didn't flood.

maybe those properties wouldn’t be dealing with insurance issues if the carriers weren’t being decimated on the coast
Got it.
Now, what’s your solution?

Damn.
Im not one to be hyperbolic. The NHC forecast, taken verbatim, is one of my weather nightmares.
I cant overstate how much I hope the intensity is lower or it simply misses Tampa somehow.

My son went to college in Saint Petersburg. Until he went there I had no idea how densely populated the area is. I remember being amazed at seeing so many houses on the beach sitting on slabs next to the Gulf. If it verifies this will be catastrophic.

Yet heaven forbid someone in Louisiana build something on the coast even within a levee system.

If tweet fails to load, click here. The growth of the Tampa Metro area has exploded

Fwiw, insurance companies disagree that coastal areas are at the same risk as inland. For some reason they want to gtfo away from the coast.

Supposed to fly into Orlando Wednesday night around 10pm. Not looking great for the start of vacation. Sigh.

Our old house on Palma Sola Blvd flooded with Helene. AFAIK tis the first time it's flooded; came close around 1980-81. Glad my parents never had to deal with it. It was built in the late 70s so it's not raised at all.
I hear AMI flooded with recent rains due to clogged drains and the pile of debris preventing the water from flowing.
If this verifies, the AMI I grew up with (beach cottages etc) will be forever altered.
Good luck with your places....

East hillsborough (apollo beach). Have a lot of property down where you are, though. Prefer it hit here since there's so many older people in Sarasota/Venice who can't leave

Yea, you are close to me.. While our house was being built, we lived in Tara Coutry Club up on Hwy 70. We were closer then.

Ok so now let’s talk California real estate: Mudslides. Fires. Earthquakes.
Potential risk out there is equal or exceeds coastal risk due to the higher population and relative valuations than the gulf coast.
You have no idea what you’re talking about

Wow man, hate to hear that. I spend my days out there. Palma Sola is going to get wrecked if this thing does not change directions some. I am nervous about my business out there. I am really not prepared and its my fault.
AMI got wrecked and have been cleaning up all week. I cant imagine being out there cleaning up that mess and see this coming at them just a week later. That place had 5 feet of sand over most of the island. Couldnt even drive on Gulf Drive. Such a bad deal.
Hope your place is OK out there. If you ever need me, just give me a hollar..

We’ve been going to the St. Pete/Treasure Island area for decades in the summer.
Several of the places in TI are already devastated by the surge from Helene. This would be horrific if it hits head on.

In-laws have a condo on Longboat Key and this would probably send it into the Gulf. Hope it doesn’t track that way
