Any updates on the guy in the boat tied to the dock?

Pretty sure he took his 20k gofundme and went to a shelter.

My power went out about 90 mins ago. How long can I go without power before I need to worry about my food in the refrigerator/Freezer If I don’t open the doors?
Spots we just went through a week without power up here from Helene. We basically stayed out of the fridge for almost two days and all seemed fine but we were able to get a couple of bags of ice into both the fridge and freezer which bought us another day and a half until I was able to get a generator.
We kept our fridge at 35 F and the freezer at 0 F which obviously helped as well before power went out. Also threw three bags in standalone freezer to preserve deer meat which made it as well. Also daytime temps never went above 80 deg which helped us as well
Hope this helps

North is a bit prettier but even around lake Ouachita is nice and if the kids like swimming even better. Might start to be getting a bit cool though. Sounthern/central AR is much more doable driving distance from Houston than N AR imo.
We finished our trip near Hot Springs at Lake Catherine State Park. It's 10 miles from Hot Springs and it's beautiful. They have cabins and we saw what kind of looked like a motel type structure. The park itself is very nice. We've seen deer crossing the road and they have trails if you like nature and hiking. Hot Springs is nice and if you're into history, on bathhouse row, one of the bathhouses is a visitor center/museum that's free. There's also a gangster museum because Hot Springs was a favorite destination for gangsters back in the day. Just be ready for even though it's only 10 miles, it takes 30 minutes to drive it. lol. It's the same anywhere in Arkansas.

Hot Springs itself isn't my bag but the area lakes are what draws me. Hope the kids had a good time.

Made it just fine. Some kids interviewed him early this morning. Says it was bad for a little bit, but was able to sleep from about 12:30-5:30 this morning

Man what a wild night. I believe they said winds of 102 around here, and I fully believe it, it was howling at certain points.
The eye was so eerie, and I would prefer to not ever live through that again.
We feel so very fortunate. We lost some fence panels, but that was about it. Not a single shingle is missing from our roof, and our pool lanai is in tact, and we didn't even lose a screen.
We also got power back somehow around 1:00am and it has stayed on.
I know the damage to Lido and Siesta key has to be devastating. Will be watching those developments for a while.
Thank you to everyone in this thread who posted updates and tips, and well wishes. It was highly appreciated, and y'all are awesome.

Thankfully it wasn't as bad as originally predicted. They said the water in Tampa bay was pushed out, anyone have any links showing that?

It has happened before. I believe with Ian.
And that was in daylight if you want to google that.
Since this was at night there may not be good pics.

We have a huge DC in Tampa. Are roads passable? There’s basically nothing new from the MSM.
Hope the folks south are okay.

My friend who lives in st Pete… they evacuated to Spring Hill and have power
He’s glad they left st Pete as the main water line burst and the city shut down all water and sewer for god knows how long until they get it fixed

They just showed a reporter talking to hillsborough sheriff saying that there are places in Tampa that flooded that have never flooded before. So their search and rescue is deployed in different areas. My buddy who evacuated out by linebaugh in Tampa said they are good according to neighbors.

Hear from your son this morning yet?
Not yet
Was txtng him back n forth as it hit last night. Was ok last I heard but the storm losing steam at the end made me feel better
FWIW If you took Miltons path as it came ashore it couldn’t have gone any more dead center in line with his apt if you tried. So I’m sure cell and power grid for his location are probably down.
I feel he’s fine now but I do fear for his health the next time I see him. He might get a front row dose of old man strength.
But thanks for asking. Will update when I hear something
