Question for you hurricane smart folk. Does a tropical system weaken over land only when its actual eye is over land or when any of its ‘core’ is over land? i.e. does this brush with Mexico even affect it intensity wise? Sorry if already discussed but I’m not reading 105 pages

What made you decide not to evacuate?
Why? My first hurricane was Andrew when I was 11.
Irma was as bad as I have witnessed. Ian's surge destroyed Fort Myers Beach. My home is safe. There are others, within a mile, that will not be so fortunate.
Why would I clog up the roads and suck up resources? None of my coworkers are leaving. You hunker down and wait for it to pass, like always. If flooding is not a concern.

You've made your point - you're not leaving.
We get it.
Now, quit making it about you, but then complaining when people make fun of you.
Want to talk about the hurricane - cool. Want to discuss- surge - cool. But let's move on from...you.

Thanks. I’m doing ok I guess. Pretty traumatic couple weeks. Just have moments of powerful emotions that just hit me
Wanna come ride this big bitch out? They are thinking it will be down to a 2 or 3 by the time it goes by.
My house went through Charley, Jeanne, Francis, some Ivan, and a lot of Irma, with no damage. Then insurance made me get a hurricane mitigation inspection.
My gusset plates are real, and they're spectacular.

I was also 11 during Andrew

I had the Army pay me a visit after Irma. 2' under water for months. We are not taking this storm lightly. I imagine we will be dark for a while. We are stocked up. My place of business has showers, if needed. Again, people right on the coast, or in the surge, it's going to be catastrophic
So yea, like I said. Idiotic.
Moving on.
