i like a FB page for Islamorada... a guy drove around filming and tagging Islamorada. Its not gone. Yes they sustained some damage but nothing catastrophic. Debris on roads. I think there was a section of US 1 (not sure where) that was fricked up.

haven't heard from my buddy in Cape Coral since last night. Hoping they just lost power/cell service

The power is out in most of the Cape. I'm sure cell towers are damaged and others are overloaded.

I've been able to text my friends who live there. Plenty of wind damage to pool cages, trees, etc. Storm surge wasn't nearly as bad as expected, but it sounds like there was some flooding. Good luck reaching your friend.

fricking power went out here before the winds even got over 40mph... fricking piece of shite arse Georgia power.

We're supposed to get our worst part around 2pm eastern.

I wonder if the key deer fared okay in the storm. Their numbers were already decimated recently by some nasty disease...cool little bastards though.

Checking radar and satellite this morning, I'm not surprised Jax got a surprisingly rough night. The upper feature that helped push her north that was pushing that huge outflow plume NE appears to have also pushed the mid and upper level energy NE of the low level center. Which put Jax and the Ga/Sc under a focus for heavy rain bands and big winds with all that energy still spinning hard.

Irma looks to be rapidly transitioning post tropical this morning. Windy, rainy, and tornado risk today for most of Georgia into South Carolina.

ABC Action News video shows an army of fire ants clinging to each other to form a floating mat. The ants were spotted at a flooded apartment complex off Fletcher Avenue in Hillsborough County.

Someone swimming is going to have a very bad day... thats the stuff of legends you hear about from Katrina survivors.

I was suprised because i thought irma was headed west . My wife woke me up to say there was a small drip in one of the rooms. I opened the door to check the weather about 2 am and had it ripped out of my hand. I was like dam i thought Matthew was supposed to have been worse last year with the winds. The water rose the fastest i have ever seen. I guess i will need to conserve my generator because i'm not sure how longer power will be out . Could be days. Not sure how many other florida peeps have checked in with the power outages so widespread.

Cancelled schools and closed our office here in Bham today. Crazy. It's barely even raining.....

Sitting at home with a 3 year old and 1 year old. Burned a PTO day because daycare is cancelled. It's slightly breezy.

Am I the only one shocked to see those temps in Georgia? Upper 50s and low 60s. That's cold for September. I thought tropical systems brought the hot muggy airmass up with them. How is it so cold?
