Wind field does look a bit smaller than it did yesterday but the SE quad seems to be where the strongest winds are right now

Only 5 - 10 foot storm surge.
5 - 8 in Tampa.

That's not so bad considering. Right?

Per the national hurricane center guy

Cuba took a beneficial toll on Irma. Now shear and additional land interaction should result in slow steady deterioration today.

So there's a different type of hurricane going on here. After the scare with the Cat 4/5 coming our way, a lot of people got the hell out when the evac order was issued.

Culcha did not evacuate.

Hurricane Culcha is hitting when the sun is down.

Mine, too. The Facebook one from Key West and the Periscope one from Marathon. Mike Theiss was tweeting every 5 or 10 minutes for a while then went silent around the same time frame. May have lost one or more cell towers down there.

ETA:

meant Theiss, not Eadds

They also encourage countless people to stay and try and ride it out.

Graphic on MSNBC a while ago had higher winds at Miami (71) than Key West (51). Go figure.

As crazy as this sounds, Key West has been lucky. Irma is going through the central keys and shear is really taking a toll on her western side. There will still be considerable impacts north and east of the center, but Irma is going to be a far cry from what went through the Leeward Islands, USVIs, and BVIs.

Earlier he threw a palm branch in the wind thinking it would take off. Thing fell straight down to the water in the street... Totally anticlimactic...lol. Those weather channel guys are a bunch of drama queens... Jim Cantore being the head queen...

I was watching the buoys all morning, and at the time this was correct. Now they're pretty much equal.

I just drove to Lakeland to see if I could get a few more loaves of bread. All the grocery stores are closed. It is sprinkling and we are getting about 3 mph wind.
