Seems like it's sticking to the southern portion of the cone. Nice gif.

We're leaving Naples right now and heading to Orlando. This has been our plan for the last few days, but today's forecast has been unbelievably frightening to say the least. Orlando isn't in any way a perfect option, but it's better than facing a storm surge and 150 mph winds.
Thanks to everyone in this thread. The info was really helpful. Please say a prayer for everyone in this monster's path. We're going to need them.

Is this storm still considered annular?
No

The very bottom line of the cone grazed Cuba. If that's your standard then we should expect you to say this will be a direct hit on Destin. Of course no ones saying that - but it's "in the cone" as much as Cuba was
How about being spot on nearly 4.75 days ago?

I'm shuttered up in West Palm Beach. Now this bitch arse storm isn't even coming here. Nice projections "meteorologists"
Subtle brag

See my above post. The storm is constantly on the southern end of "the cone" which, by the way, is horseshite cya because the cone is re-released every few hours with a 30 degree angle on both directions projecting outward so technically and mathematically it would never go outside the cone as long as the direction is accurate. It's a moving goalpost.
Looking at the model predictions in their entirety and you can easily see this was supposed to be WELL east of the US, to east of the US, to grazing the Carolinas, to hitting east FLA, to going up FLA's gut, to hitting west FLA.
Anyone who knows trigonometry can see the angle mathematical cya.
Back to my point - so if what the NHC has predicted has been accurate as you say then call it for Destin.

Brad Panovich just said he thinks the turn north has started. James Spann retweeted.
is it happening?
Well the start of the set up may be happening. She's expected to get more of a NW movement along the edge of the bremuda high. Puts Irma in position to feel the ull that will be somewhere on the central gulf coast and Irma goes between the two. Which is somewhere in Florida.
I really would like the turn north to be now, but I don't see it.

Naw like I said I'm just salty because I have to risk my life to put up my metal shutters at the top of my 25 foot ladder.
I actually appreciate this thread and the contributors here. I've been drinking too FWIW lol

Then go post on a weather board with real meteorologist, you aren't contributing anything

I'm just salty because I busted arse today like a mofo. This storm was looking like the eye was coming right at me. I'm just blowing off steam. Glad I didn't evacuate though.
Probably still going to some noticeably shitty weather, but good that your out of harm's way.

I'm actually impressed. I didn't think someone could be as stupid as you. You literally have a chart from 5 days ago showing a direct line (not the edge of the cone) to where it is now and you still won't give up. Man, it takes a special kind of stupid to pull that off.

Ahh, so you're obviously just trolling and you don't actually believe any of this shite. I gotcha.

Everyone just chill the frick out.
Spent thirty minutes picking the toys up off the floor in here. Some have been sent to timeout, others are getting the evil eye, so let's all just be cool.
Emotions often run high in these threads, especially when we get this close to landfall. If we can all try to understand where others are coming from, then we'll all be much better off.
That said, if you're just here to flame, then you can frick right off, as ain't nobody got time for that.
