Tomorrow might be the greatest day ever to be at Disney world but also the dumbest.

Weren't there a number of computer models days ago having this storm drop in central pressure to insanely low values just before landing?

Likewise...I have a cousin in New Port Richey and her family. We offered them to come up and stay here in the Birmingham area but they stayed put...unfortunately that's looking like a perpetually worse decision as the hours tick by.

No one who "stayed for Andrew", for example, stays for another storm unless they completely missed the brunt of the storm.

Andrew was a bit bigger and more intense than Charley but just like Charley Andrew was a small storm which gives people a false sense of security.

Naples to Ft. Myers is looking like the worst of the eye wall track so far. The graphic just showed on the TWC had the landfall coming in looked like Collier or Lee County, after going right through Key West.

They've all had a solid 15-20 mb drop on the approach. GFS has been consistently hitting sub 900 mb for a few days. The HMON has been saying frick it, it's going to be the lower pressure recorded on the surface of earth. So, there's good reason to anticipate strengthening along with the NHC actually predicting her to strengthen into Cat 5 territory in the keys.

I am not that far from you. The eye is supposed to go through my yard. I am supposed to get 120 gusts and you are supposed to get 100. Do you rent or own? Is your house block or wood frame? Do you have a shed? What color? Do you have a closed garage? Do not park under any trees. Do you live alone or have others that will depend on you? Pets? Sorry to ask so many questions. If it is just you go to a shelter on Sunday evening. If your home is not structurally sound, go to a shelter. Park your vehicle somewhere high, preferably where something solid will shed it from the wind. Questions? Concerns?

Just me , the SO , and the dog. Block house. I think our house will be fine , but we will be going east tomorrow if this still looks like it does now. Thanks for the advice. Good luck to you. If you need anything after this shite moves through , feel free to reach out to me. My username @gmail.com

I'm confused. Earlier today, in the discussion report, the NHC wrote that IF Irma tracked further south (as some models showed) and interacted with Cuba that would help lessen its intensity when it hit the US mainland. Irma has taken that southerly track and yet it forecast to be a Cat 5 at landfall.

Please explain.

In addition, Attorney General Pam Bondi activated Florida’s price gouging hotline for all consumers in Florida. State law prohibits extreme increases in the price of essential commodities, such as food, water, hotels, ice, gasoline, lumber and equipment, needed as a direct result of an officially declared emergency. Anyone who suspects price gouging during this declared state of emergency should report it to the Attorney General’s Office by calling 1-866-9-NO-SCAM.
