They need to get these people moving, this storm will cover the entire state.
People gonna be riding this shite out in a fricking car.

Is this a standing offer for everyone evacuating??
Right?
I could use a few thousand to evacuate to Vegas for the weekend.

Please tell me they're using contra flow.

A 7 hour drive to Atlanta is now reported as 14 hrs+ I for one don't fancy being stuck in my car in that or during that.
I don't understand this logic

Apparently they are not starting contraflow until tomorrow for some reason. Using the shoulder as extra lanes at this point.

Not that I am aware of. Any of you Florida baws know if the Gov issued that order yet?
Edit: Looking at Google Maps, seems like South FL is green.
Looks like the population has at least made it to CenFL / The panhandle.

Reporting in from Bradenton, south of Tampa/St.Pete - preps prepped. We're on the west side of storm track. Surge impact should be nil. Pool draining about 6-8 inches in advance of the expected rainfall. Winds are the wild card. Who knows how high? To be determined. I-75 going north is right along the projected path. A 7 hour drive to Atlanta is now reported as 14 hrs+ I for one don't fancy being stuck in my car in that or during that. Maybe more later. Right now it's sunny humid and hot here. No breezes.
I have a friend in Tampa. Is he expecting the same? Sounds like he's stuck and just hunkering down with a generator. What's the word in the Tampa area? I know he told me last night that traffic is complete gridlock with evacuations from down south, and tough to go anywhere, much less evacuate.

Bruh. If you're in Zone A in Pinellas I wouldn't risk it. This things shift any further west they'll start evacuating b and c and good luck getting over the bridges then.
Is it necessary to cut the power?

Hey man! Hope you stay safe. I think I'm still going to go to Atlanta since I already made plans. I'll just make a weekend out of it.
Posted on 9/8/17 at 7:44 am to ReauxlTide222
I'd empty the fridge and cut the main breaker.

When they mention the distance winds extend from the center are they measuring from the dead center of the eye or the inner layer of the eyewall?
Pretty sure it's from the center, not the edge of the eye wall.

Hopefully someone smarter than me can answer that.

When I evacuated New Orleans for Ivan a 90 min drive took me 13 hours.
