Sorry for the uneducated post. No hurricane experience, hillbilly here. I have a condo booked in Destin for the 16th, if Irma tracks on it's predicted path, will it still be business as usual by that date for that area?
Should be and bring me some shine you hillbilly MFer. I'm going to need it.

Our parish had a pile of sand with bags for us to fill as preparation for potential flash flooding. They didn't even provide shovels

I asked this other day but does eye wall replacements change the track on a storm if it ends up too far South or North?
I don't think so, but perhaps Duke or rds can confirm.

Just go to Mobile. Or go to Biloxi and stay at the the Beau Rivage.

My hotel reservation is in Columbus (Cola), GA. One model showed them taking a pretty good hit.
I thought I was good there almost 5 hours away. There aren't any hotel rooms anyway soooooo....
Frick it. Hurricane party it is.

I can't really give you a full answer, but my experience has been seeing the eye kind of "bounce" around. I've noticed in the past a lot of wobbling as the cycle proceeds. The flow of the atmosphere still governs the overall motion though, with the wobbles really only mattering if you're really close to the center.

It's crazy that in a day it's gone from hitting Miami and brushing the east coast, to now nailing Naples and going into Georgia.
That's not much of a move at all. Miami to Mobile would be worth noting

If you have a moment, can you explain to the class what is sending Irma north near the Keys?
