Isn't there a nuclear power plant there on the ocean?
No idea but I was wondering why on the map there was a place labeled cooling canals.
Sounds like that would be a yes.
Building a nuclear plant on the ocean on the southern tip of Florida which is basically hurricane alley near a major city.
What genius thought this was a good idea? Note: when the power and backup generators fail due to inundation and the rods get exposed it goes boom

Lurking in the thread until now. Grew up near Brennen Elm, went to Crayton and AC Flora. Live in NOLA now. Small world indeed, y'all be safe. Sister lives in Shandon and Aunt/uncle Elmwood.

12z HMON continues to show an exceptionally strong storm landfalling in Miami.
Obviously, that is over done but conditions should be favorable for strengthening when it makes the turn north.

Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station is the name of the facility.
Well that's a bit concerning!

Winds are only supposed to hit 90mph here in Columbia.
How far from Augusta National are you? They might see some decent winds at Amen Corner.

12Z Euro run has started. Here is the center track of the eye based on the last run. Will update after it's tracked in this run and indicate the difference in a new image.

12z GFS showing a higher amount of uncertainty than most of the last few runs. The ensemble members into NC are a new development, but the GFS has been shite, so who knows.

Also looks like its starting to get stronger with deep reds exploding with intensity as they fully surround the eye. The Mountains of Haiti/DR and Cuba aren't going to interfere with this storm as it moves into water warmer than fresh piss.
