This storm is already 180mph. Before we know it, it'll be a puny 165 rolling through by Fl.

It is hard to find reasons to argue against the Euro/NHC consensus of a direct hit on Miami. The GFS has shown a constant north bias and that is one of the reasons it is showing the near miss.

The forecast moves the center of #Irma up the Florida East Coast. Can I now let my guard down on the #FL west coast? Absolutely Not. #flwx

Yeah Florida Peninsula is only 100 miles wide.

Crazy that no one is safe right now.

Hurricane #Jose is coming up very quickly on the heels of Irma. A renewed threat to Leeward Islands on Saturday. Don't take down shutters.

I get this same track using the 00Z Thurs run but when I switch to 06z Thurs I get the older track with it plowing through Savannah and not the NC/SC border.

I dont understand

GFS
When you go to the forecast models GFS automatically always loads (whatever time frame is on the very top of the submenu on the right is the latest run.) For the Euro run, click in "GLOBAL" and submenu down and choose ECMWF. You click on the numbers on the right in sequence down as the model is loading.

Is it just me, or was there a nice little move to the NW in the last few frames of this satellite loop (seems to be much more than a "jog" or wobble)"

extrapolated sea level pressure is 918

so yes that would be the storm pressure dropping again

let's see if the dropsonde verifies it when it reaches the surface
