Charleston would still get slammed and Myrtle Beach would get screwed. It'd be a repeat of Hugo in that scenario but worse. But I'm biased...

There are stories of people swimming inside the high school in McCleaninville that was a shelter. Water was like 15' high.

Not true. Many of the islands hit are fairly affluent and have a lot of very nice areas. St John in particular plus several others.
