Checked everything and no visible issues. RMA was approved Friday so here we go again with their 3-4 week RMA process…. I guess at least I have that considering prices these days.

I did update the bios. They sent me a new motherboard when I RMA last time and it was updated. Updated again here recently to the new bios as well and same issues.
I may check the power cables though while I wait. They are seated but I never took them apart to see if anything inside looked weird.

ASRock Issues Once Again (This time GPU)

This computer build I did last year has been nothing but problems.
First off, late last year either my motherboard went out or the motherboard fried my 9950X3D. Apparently this was a major issue with the motherboard sending too much voltage to the 9950X3D chips. I had to RMA both which took over a month to get back. Reinstall everything (which I felt it never really got back tuned to what it was before with the new hardware).
Fast forward to this weekend and now under any GPU load the screen flickers and goes dark. Uninstalled all CPU, GPU, motherboard drivers and updated. Still have issues crashing.
The only way I could get it to not crash was to underclock the GPU.
ChatGPT says RMA so I guess I am back to that again. At this point that would be RMA for every major component in this PC.
Anyone have this issue before? It was working fine until this weekend.
Below is my build.
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 4.3 GHz 16-Core Processor
Lian Li Galahad II Trinity SL-INF 61.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
ASRock X870E Taichi EATX AM5 Motherboard
G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory
Samsung 990 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Crucial T700 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 5.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
ASRock Phantom Gaming OC Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24 GB Video Card
SeaSonic VERTEX GX-1000 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

I had this exact same thing happen to me with the same code. Had to get a tow truck to get it moved for the dealer to fix. Yukon died as I was pulling into gas station and wouldn’t crank back up. Same year. They had to replace the module.

City Planner Plays? Infrastructurist?
Make sure you update your bios on that motherboard.
I haven’t had a chance to update my original thread on my issues with RMA on my same board and 9950X3D, but just got everything back up and running. Trust me, you don’t want to go through that hassle.

What are you buying on without paying $50 in commissions? I looked the other day and Schwab charges $50 transaction since its foreign.
Or is that just part of the deal? I guess at $1400 its a drop in the bucket....

Well, 4 days into the RMA process and still waiting for them to send me the information to send it off.
Asrock said I need to send them the board for them to inspect and in the meantime call AMD and go through RMA with them. Asrock would not take the CPU (so that's my next call to AMD).
The customer service rep I talked to at Asrock was helpful. Apparently its a 1 month to 1.5 month process all in from them.
No telling on AMD.
Let the fun begin.

I have never RMA. What do I have to do send it back then wait for them to test it then send another one? What happens with the CPU? Repair shop said it didn’t have any marks or look bad but who knows.
You were right. No dice on the repair shop. They said RMA and send both motherboard and CPU.
Well that’s news I hate to read.
Would be my luck right when I convert to AMD this would happen.
I had to drop it off at a repair shop. 4-5 hrs of doing everything I knew how to do took its toll.
I guess I will wait to see what they say. It may be smart to send them this article as a place to start.
Appreciate the information.

New computer boot issues.

I built a new PC over the summer. Asrock X870E Taichi motherboard, 9950x3d cpu, 7900xtx gpu with 1000 watt power supply.
Computer has been working great for the last few months. Every time I am not using it, I have been shutting it off.
Worked fine Monday night. Wednesday night go to turn it on and I can’t even get a boot or bios. Motherboard is reading an error code 03.
Based on what I read online it’s a component not sitting right which is odd because the pc has not moved or the cpu not working with the bios.
I reflash the bios and get it to boot. Go to restart to test and same issue and code.
Clear CMOS get to boot and same issue, go to reboot and won’t get to bios.
Reseat the cpu and crank it up with same issue.
Reseat the ram and it gets it to crank a few times but after that back to same error code and no boot.
What am I missing? Bad ram? CPU looks fine, no dead spots.
Trying to not have to take it to a computer tech but I am at a loss at this point.

Call me old, but feel that is also a result of the one knee stance these catchers do now. I just don’t see how you can slide back and forth to block as good as you can from being crouched.

Not sure if they have changed over the years but Club Car has an aluminum body and EZGO had a steel frame that would always rust.
Depends on your proximity to the ocean if that would make a big difference, but something to think about. Also lighter.

Going to need This Old House and the Woodworking shows to find a new home pronto.

Catcher is framing them.
It’s the very last game on espn app at the far right.
So, since my last post, I have purchased a used CPU to see if that was the issue (same as I had before to make it easy).
Good news is we are back working again. I guess when I blew out the case with air trying to clean the dust on the CPU fan when I plugged it back in the CPU toasted.
Bad news is even the new CPU cooler I installed is reading low on RPMs in the BIOS, which after further research there, may mean my power supply is going out.
All that being said, does it make sense to try to grab a 9070 XT that releases Friday and run that with my previous build list at 1440 then maybe down the line upgrade if needed?
I have been doing some research on the 9070 XT and it sounds like it will be a good mid rage GPU.
Given how old my current build is, anything is an upgrade now.

Copy and pasted from my saved list from way back.
Only real change is I have updated my storage to a new 2TB Samsung SSD.
Also, I found a used CPU (same as listed below) today for $35 and ordered that to test and see if I could get anything to boot to get me by until prices come down as a backup plan. That will come in next week.
Below list of what my current build is.

Motherboard shows a red led indicating a cpu issue. Checked and reset the chip and don’t see any issues. Replaced the cooler and fan. Reset GPU and ram. Still nothing.
