Now that we have a @NOAA_HurrHunter plane making center fixes of #Ida, wanted to see how location compares to EC/GFS ensembles to infer near-term trends.

Pretty clear latest fix is on right side of ensemble envelope, but closer to mean of 12z GEFS (which was east of 12z EC EPS)

Yeah so that thing looks like it’s going to absolutely slam Nola.

Yeah I’d issue evacuation orders for Orleans and parts of Jefferson now if I was JBE.

He rushed to mandate masks. Doesn’t do shite for hurricanes.

Also, second time for a big time hurricane the Euro ensembles were all too far west, where the GEFS had it well within the spread. That was a hell of a upgrade.

Given the approach, I think Jefferson would want to act more. Specifically the Westbank.

There has t been any shift East in the track from BR, right? Looking at the NHCs track from this morning and comparing it to the current, both tracks look basically the same.

I think the models that has the more eastern tracks will continue prove correct on this one. Hopefully it won’t be an intense storm.

Rare to have one hurricane seriously threaten both Baton Rouge AND New Orleans.

It's more south of the city. The angle is going to be pushing water from the SE. That's the part of the levee system most likely to be really tested here.

We will be tracking by radar soon...

Link to full screen radar with useful track forecast overlays...
It initializes up north but easy to navigate and loads pretty quickly.
