What is the anchoring there, though? Looks like glorified tent stakes.

I went searching for stream data around Wilmington and the mountains (for future reference). Wilmington has 2 damn gauges on the Cape Fear.

https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=ilm

I had been told that the Amite Watershed had the highest concentration of stream gauges in the country. Looking like that's true. Around 36 gauges in the Amite watershed and about 24 in EBR Parish. Compare that to the map in the link.

Yeah. I don't know about the soil/sand there, but once the ground is saturated I would think there would not be much resistance to the upward force.

Just mostly about all the staging of manpower and supplies.

Safety recs and setting expectations.

Expect western Carolina to get flooding too.

If it's like the "hurricane anchors" we had in the boatyard at this place I used to work, they are metal eye-holes in concrete set into the ground to which you attach straps.

But that strap from the picture in the driveway and all the freshly dug dirt makes me wonder if they didn't rig up something on the fly.

I drove 12" diameter concrete piles 20' deep all around my house with embedded 1/2" steel anchor bolts just in case I needed to ratchet strap my house to the ground.

You never know.

Can't really be too safe.

That is what I'm interested because of the watershed.

OK. Mrs. Cantore.

People who hate on Jeff take Alex Jones seriously and feel the need to point out that rasslin is fake (even though everyone knows that).

I have always wondered why more people don't do this. Personally I would have had some lateral support under the straps but I have seen way to many homes destroyed because of a window/door blown in and the roof being lifted from the walls.
