How many inches did SC receive a few years ago when they had to move the football game to BR because of the flooding?
28 in Charleston

Whoa! About 957 mb and 115 kts flight level
115 kt = ~132 mph

The scary part is this thing will only encounter warmer waters from here to the coast.

This about the time I would tell any family and friends in this things way to get the hell out of dodge.

I think we need an official Anal Pucker Factor rating for the Carolinas.

Not shocking to me. Flo was looking really stout on satellite this morning. HWRF has been signalling a rapid intensification.

I'm up in SC and I don't think anyone here understands the gravity of the situation. I'm hunkering my arse down.

945 mb and most likely dropping...

Good luck to the coastal peeps. This one is picking up steam.'
I have to fly through ATL this week, possibly. Although not affected by the storm, the rain and flight delays could be more than troublesome.

Cat five is around 135mph, right??

It’s amazing how hard Florence is going to hit the brakes. Look how far it’s going to travel on Wednesday.

131 knots flight level on the other side of the eye!

This is essentially normal operating procedure for my time in the submarine service
Related to this thread, I did a ride-along for quals on the USS Dallas in 1999 from Groton to Puerto Rico. We went through a hurricane's path submerged (I think it was Dennis?), a depth of 400ft felt like periscope depth.

4 starts at 130 mph
5 starts at 157 mph
ETA: if 135 is AT THE SURFACE... then Florence is a cat 4
it's not what's a flight level... it's what's at the surface

I hope no one in that thing's path try and ride it out. It is absolutely not worth it.

People need to get out or at least move further inland if they're on the coastal areas. If they're worried about money FEMA will reimburse. No excuse to stay in the path of this storm other than pride.
