00z Euro shifted south a bit with landfall in far northern SC. It gets into NC and then drifts south. Rainfall totals look like 20-40" over the western half of NC and SC.

Myrtle Beach metro area has grown by over 130% since Hurricane Floyd.

This may be very bad.

WPC is already going with 15"+ of rain in the 7 day outlook.

Yikes. On par with a number of the big flood events over the past couple of years

The same could be said for almost anywhere on the east coast these days. Anywhere these things hit there will be billions in damages due to the boom in Beachfront development over the last 20 to 30 years.

That much rain in the mountains would be catastrophic. Damn.

HWRF reminds SC not to get too comfortable on the path just yet.

You mention 20-40" over western half of NC and SC but that image only shows 2-7".

Let me know if I am reading this incorrectly??

How are you related to the transportation industry?

In telecom, we call Verizon, TMO, Sprint, ATT "carriers."

More times then not they ask for us to be on standby just in case their storm prep gets overrun. It's rarely happened and the old guys in the lab told me the last time it did was Katrina then Harvey.

I work on the radio end so a lot of these emails passthrough me.

The image is the official WPC outlook and the local NWS offices coordinate with them on the forecast. The 00z Euro model is showing the 20-40".

The image he posted was the 7 day outlook from the NWS. The totals he mentioned were from the Euro model that ran overnight. Here is a more detailed version:

There is a max of nearly 4 feet of rain in the next 7 days near Piedmont.

There’s one at the Wallace, NC store you can buy and pick up today/tomorrow but it’s the $799 one.

LINK
All home depots in the wilm NC (and I am sure SC coast) area have shipments of briggs & Stratton gemerators they are $800. They have no other ones. And they are seliing like cheap hotcakes.

I heard cat 4 landfall in little river calabash SC.(only 45 minute drive from WilmNC) It has probably changed already.

Don't worry about the fine details of landfall where you are, just assume Cat 4 coming right at you.

So has it shifted south? It was looking like it would hit around Jacksonville, NC or maybe even a little further north. Now it’s looking like right at the NC/SC border?

The European model rode in South near the SC/NC line. HWRF, a tropical specific model, followed. GFS and UKMet models are sitting more on the OBX.

NHC is sitting steady near Wilmington. There's going to be some model wobbling over the next couple of days. NHC is gonna filter that noise.

The takeaway, I wouldn't sound the all clear if I am anywhere between Savannah,Ga to Norfolk, Va. Carolinas the obvious highest risk.

If a cat 4 is coming at you, you pick up and leave

Thanks, I agree. The problem with everyone on NC East Coast is where to book a hotel for Wed. today.
