Damn Grand Bahama got wrecked. They'll never really rebuild. That debris will still be in places in decades. They still have hurricane Andrew damage in greater Nassau.

I’m glad Dorian is almost gone, as it feels like we’ve been tracking it for a month.

Unfortunately, it’s on to 94L, which has a 70% chance of developing.

Local militia blocking the road to stop looters in Abaco

We are learning that only one police officer is stationed in Treasure Cay, Abaco.

A plane landed there and was robbed immediately. There are reports of deaths far in excess of what is being reported.

See all those trees still standing? Those telephone polls? You think that photo is from the island that just got hit by a Category 5?

Has frankie weighed in in on his expected brush with Dorian?

Yep. Sure has.

Weather Channel could make this guy's lifetime if they interviewed him for the storm.

He's pulled a Sandy. Doesn't exactly look tropical right now but the wind is still ripping over NS.

Dorian is building with cold air now.

The backside cold jet is absolutely ripping at 80+ kts.

Can just call them models. The "spaghetti plots" come from before we had all the ensambles from the big globals available for the public and just were there to kind of set the possibility envelope.

Im sure someone will calculate how well the globals did here soon. The GFS was the first to more consistently sniff out the eastern solution. Strong showing for it. The Euro was better on the timing toward the Bahamas and the length of the stall. Both were great in the 1-3 day window, except for the center relocation early on and the early right track. I want to say the f'n ICON actually got that closer than the rest. Going to need to keep that in mind as it did surprisingly well with the weak Barry too.

Also, HWRF was killer with short term (like 6-24 hours) intensity forecasts once Dorian was mature.

Overall, except for the early track shift, the forecast was great from the NHC. Models did well with a delicate balance of a steering set up.

They all more or less missed on Dorian's slow down which allowed different steering features to become involved. That was the problem that the models struggled to resolve as they were initially operating with Dorian being a faster moving storm early on. Levi mentioned a couple of times that the slow down allowed that trough to come across the country and sink south. When models first picked up on Dorian that trough wasn't even a factor.
It was interesting to see it all play out and watch the models work through it. A lot of good data will be gathered from this storm and it will serve to only make the models better going forward.
