On infrared satellite Dorian is looking about as impressive as ever over the last few hours.

If ratings and commercial potential value were a thing meteorology for hurricanes would be a real thing. He's right.

He's completely wrong.
The NHC's most recent projection vs the one 48 hours ago are within 132 nm of one another. Their average error on a 5 day forecast is actually 175 nm, so they're currently doing better for Dorian than their 5 year trailing average.
ETA - it's the equivalent of saying it will be in Beaumont 5 days from now and it actually hitting Morgan City. That kind of error is perfectly reasonable 5 days out. Florida's peninsula, however, is less that 130 nm across, so a reasonable amount of error could mean a complete miss of the state.

Its fear mongering with commercial value at its core. Watch that cone movement link a few posts ago.
That should be criminal.
That should be criminal.

I suspect you're wasting your breath.

That's because people like you don't understand fluidity and how these situations evolve daily. It's not fear mongering.

You're incapable of understanding what you're even seeing. The cone movement conversations are always comical.

Meteorologists got it wrong. If you say they didn't then you're agreeing that their professional opinions on Hurricanes are bunk. Why even start talking about the potential of these storms so far out with this kind of degree of error?

Had to look it up. Not that much difference. Is this metric or some other obscure measurement. I'm thinking the latter.
1 Nautical Mile = 1.15077945 Miles

Water Vapor looks like a slowly strengthening storm. Filled in around the core a little better to the west this afternoon. A bit more symmetric. Still outflowing bigly to the east.

Nice reply. Prove me wrong. BTW, looks like the west winds are dipping w/sw now.

fwiw- If I learned anything from Barry & Dorian, it’s that Hurricane Cones are much more reliable with fast moving storms rather than slow ones.
