Huntsville is the "Silicon Valley" of the Southeast. Technology companies out the wazoo.
Nice areas popping up and expanding. I like the Providence area personally. Townhouses/Condos/Appts available right on top/close by (short walking distance) to all the restaurants and entertainment.

I live in Madison now. It's tough to beat even you consider the amount of high paying jobs with lower cost of living.

That being said it's growing fast and the costs are growing

That's what I thought - I think we've had this conversation before.

I visited friends in BM last winter but I haven't been since.

I spent that last two days there. Some time on the arsenal, some time downtown for the Space and Missile Defense Symposium. Igothere about four to five times a year for various defense programs I work on and support.

I like Huntsville as far as small town experiences go. It's nicely taken care of, has a decent smattering of restaurants and relatively decent prices, while fairly easy to get around. It's expensive as hell to fly there, do half the time I fly to Nashville and drive down.

It's probably a pretty decent place to retire to, but I wouldn't really choose it as my first place to consider.

Really the biggest negative I've experienced.

IIRC it's the most expensive international airport in the country.

We have one of those low fair airlines coming in. Can now fly to Orlando for like $30 one way. I'm sure there is a fee for everything and the flights are standing room only. Probably not worth it.
