re: mandate already causing problems for defense contractors - bgoodwin
My wife (no pics) works for defense contractor in Huntsville. Company leadership is super-woke, they announced the mandate as soon as the president* said it. Company is even requiring to see proof of vaccination from sub-contractor companies they deal with, even for 100% remote workers....

re: Orange Beach Charter Recs - bgoodwin
Capt Philip just got that Cape Horn last year for longer trips. He was running a 27' when I went out with him. Put us on snapper in 40' of water, could still see the top of condos. 5 fishing limited out on 26-28" snapper in 2hrs....

re: Fx loop built into amps - bgoodwin
I have used the fx loop for modulation and delay. At home it sounds better to me, but in the mix playing live, it didn't seem to matter. Plus, running 4 long cables to make this work at a gig seemed to suck more tone than any gain from the fx loop....

re: Acoustic Guitar Fake Aged Finishes - A Rant - bgoodwin
The worst is when the relic job includes areas of the guitar that never show that much wear on an original. How many Tele players play on the 18th fret enough to wear the nitro off the fretboard? Very, very few. No idea why there is wear above the pickguard of that Tele either, makes no sense. It's...

re: Motorcycles passing between cars - bgoodwin
Lane splitting is legal in several states, below a certain speed. I think it's kinda foolish even when going slow, especially with 7 of 10 drivers staring at their phones. Filtering is when traffic is stopped, the motorcycle passes thru the traffic to the front, decreasing congestion....

re: Guitarists: high end picks - bgoodwin
I'm pretty heavy handed when picking, using a round tip allows the pick to slide off the string more easily. Sometimes, it's the little things that annoy me, like the clicky sound of a pick against the string an instant before the note sounds out, I just don't like it. The round edge minimizes the s...

re: What size is your guitar amp? - bgoodwin
I have a little crappy Kustom solid state amp if I need to play quiet. Fortunately, I have a separate shop I keep my rig in and practice there. I gig with an early 90s American made Peavey Classic 30 with a Tone Tubby hemp cone speaker. I live in the country and can crank it all I want....

re: Guitarists: high end picks - bgoodwin
Last year, I spent a couple of months trying different picks. Size, shape, material, and gauge I tried a ton of different ones. I landed on the standard gauge Chicken Picks, I think it's 2.6mm. I never imagined I'd like one that thick, but it just works for me on electric. I've always had trouble ke...

re: How to set up an amplifier - bgoodwin
Anytime I'm trying to set the EQ on an unfamiliar amp, I start with everything at 12 o'clock. Then I explore the extremes of each knob one at a time, all the way to zero then full on, to see how much of an effect each has, keep doing this with smaller increments until it starts to sound "right" to Y...
