The Tennessee Valley is different than the rest of Alabama, and Huntsville even more so due to the amount of out-of-state transplants. That, I think, is the main contributor to its lack of 'distinctive' character.

No, you just want it to be, Birmingham is just as meh as Huntsville, Tuscaloosa wins the meh cake in the area though.

Not sure if mentioned yet but I’m pretty sure Huntsville has more PHDs/capita than anywhere else in the US.

I've got no dog in this fight, I'm from bumfrick Limestone County. I'm just calling it like I see it.

Lived there for 10 years. A lot of transplants, good variety of food, overall a great quality of life. There are some good "starter" homes in the Oak Park area near 5 points. I flipped two there for a 30% profit. Old people are thinning out, so the homes are stuck back in the 60s. People will flock to that area because downtown is getting a lot better, and Five Points has always been a popular place.

I live 25mins outside Huntsville, I love it here, as I've gotten older not really any other place I'd rather live. The area offers you almost anything you would want to do but doesn't feel like a big city.

Gross. Move near downtown where the action is.

Safe, sterile, and boring town. No real culture or identity to it. That isn't necessarily a bad thing - it just doesn't do it for me.

I'd have a hard time seeing one from a vibrant city or into any sort of artistic background enjoying Huntsville. However, if you are settled, content and low-key, it can definitely work.

Also, if you are in tech, Cummings Research and NASA speak for themselves.

It's kinda like the Tennessee of Alabama, so better than the rest of it.

I remember when it was nothing but fields off of Lindsay Lane. I'd almost claim it as my 'home course' but I played too much at Athens Country Club for that to be true.

Move out of the south if you want to better your life. It’s all the same shite with the same trashiness. Move to Texas or out west to a city like Phoenix. Start living life.
