HEB had a confirmed case at one of their Central market stores. Worker is out on paid leave, store was sanitized overnight, and anyone who wanted PTO because of it got it. Plus they bumped pay for everyone by $2 an hour. HEB really is the GOAT.

Yep Whole Foods does this and we have people ITT backing them and Amazon LINK

They should keep this up. Amazon warehouses are already massively automated. Just a matter of time before most of those folks will be without a job after their role is taken over by a robot or automated process.

Truth be told there are probably thousands of Americans who are currently laid off without pay that would love to be able to go to work right now.

Right now, Amazon is definitely an essential business right now. Individuals who know they have serious underlying conditions should definitely take this time to leave their job. But other than that, either you go to work, or you don't get paid. Some people just want an extended paid vacation.

That seems like a waste of time since you can have the virus and not have any symptoms.

Hey now, cool it with that crazy talk. These vermin are provided jobs with no benefits, what more can their greedy asses ask for? Not to mention Amazon is taking the unheard of step if throwing them a pizza party, that is above and beyond.

Amazon really has the upper hand here (as if they didn’t already). People, myself included, are probably buying more on amazon than usual given the circumstances.

You have to be a special type of stupid to make an asinine request like this during these times. Be thankful you are working period. Lots of people out there would gladly take that job.

Exactly.

No offense, but I doubt the overwhelming majority of the warehouse workers are "skilled labor". Bozos see news of strikes on TV...such events glamorized in movies and think they can just "fight the man" in the same fashion. Unfortunately, they fail to take into account just how easily replaceable they are.

Particularly in this economic climate, I wouldn't be voluntarily giving up my job

Let them walk out and fire them with cause and hire the thousands of other people currently laid off. Amazon is going no where and middle class white women aren’t going to stop impulse buying shite online because of a little bad press

This. Being able to work right now is a luxury

There are not hundreds of people waiting to take their jobs folks! The amazon worker pool is sitting at home celebrating their paid furloughs or increased unemployment checks. Some will make as much or more doing absolutely nothing! This bunch is just mad bc their homies don’t have to work and they do. Simple as that.

Just wait til the Grocer's Union get a wild idea!

Imagine if the grocery store employees decide it's too "unsafe" to go to work.

The media is our enemy.

I'd say you'd have to be a special kind of a-hole not to everything in your power to protect the people who work for you in times like these, especially if you're one if the wealthiest corporations in the history of the world.

It's fairly obvious that taking every possible step to safeguard the health and lives of the workers is the right thing to do if you have any sense of morality whatsoever.

Hospital workers don't get this, and they are way more at risk at their jobs than these warehouse workers.
