I’d rather eliminate standard time and make daylight saving time year round.

This would mean moving to permanent standard time, right? Which we're currently on? So it would continue to be dark at 5pm for 3 months of the year.
There will be just as many people bitching about it after... just human nature.
All the travel ballers are going to have to get up earlier now because it will get dark earlier in the summer...

So, is the plan to make DST the new ST once we switch in March, or is the plan to not do the DST switch in march? That is a very important distinction and only one is the correct route.
He should split it down the middle. Make the world adjust to the US time being 30 minutes different from the rest of the world.

Y'all really want the sun to rise at 5 AM in july?
Better than the sun rising at 9 a.m. in December. Heck my parents live in Kentucky right near where it changes from Eastern Time to Central Time. They are in Eastern Time and before it changes from DST to Standard Time it gets light barely before 9 a.m.
If we had permanent DST come December they wouldn't get light easily until 9:30 a.m. That absolute s*cks.
Sorry but there isn't much worse than having to wake up in darkness to go to work, workout or even run a few errands. I know for me when it gets light earlier I can wake up naturally. When it gets light later I have to set my phone and that just stinks.
How did all of humanity survive with DST until the last 80 years? How do countries that don't have DST survive?
I honestly don't care which way you do it. DST or Standard Time, make one permanent. But they tried permanent DST before and it was an absolute failure. Parents were freaking out having their kids going to school is pitch darkness (which is ironic since it now happens anyway). So I say go back to standard time or split it and do 30 minutes.

It really wouldn't even be a big deal. I would definitely be fine with just splitting it down the middle, doing 30 minutes and making it permanent. Stays light longer than being truly on Standard Time. Gets light earlier than being truly on DST.

The states that have been moving to make one time or another permanent have mostly been getting too do it with daylight savings. So of course Trump wants to make the opposite permanent.

Hell yea. Hate going to work in the dark and then getting off and it's dark

You’re right. There isn’t much that’s worse. But one of the things that definitely is worse is having to drive home from work in darkness.
The only time you’re outside in the sunlight is the tiny bit you get in the morning walking to your car.

Always blows my mind that people always get this backwards with the terminology.

I don't understand what you people have against morning darkness. You aren't going to do shite in the yard before work. Why does it matter if it's daylight or not? The only time it matters is the evening, when you can actually do something.

This should have happened a few years ago. It easily got through the Senate, then Drunky Mcfrickface Nancy Pelosi said it wasn’t a priority and shelved it.

Why would anyone support less daylight throughout the year when you get home from work? Making ST permanent would be a stupid change.
If we were on DST now, it would get dark at 6 instead of 5. Which would still suck and have limited benefit. As a bonus the sun would come up at 8 which is turrible, just turrible.

This is everything you need to know about Time.
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long And there is time to kill today
And then one day you find Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run You missed the starting gun
And you run, and you run To catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around To come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way But you're older
Shorter of breath And one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught Or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation Is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over Thought I'd something more to say
Home, home again I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spells
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown

The daylight is not less or more depending on how time is set. It’s dependent on the winter and summer equinox. The shortest “day” of the year is Dec 21st in the northern hemisphere. The longest day is June 21st in the NH…day light being sunlight shining on the northern hemisphere. Time is irrelevant. Some of y’all are really stupid.

I wonder what the accident/fatality rate is during the evening rush hour in December vs October.

i don’t really care which one they pick, so long as they just stop switching it every six months
