re: How would your state fare in a war with each of its neighboring states?

It'd be rough on us. While we do have a large number of armed people who can mostly hit what they shoot at, we're basically surrounded by other states full of the same.
I think we could take Mississippi, but who would want it?
LA could definitely make a run at MS and AR. We have a bigger population and a decent mix of rednecks in the north and coonasses in the south. TX just has too many people.

North Dakota.. would win.. hands fricking down....

the question is who has the industry to supply themselves
in Louisiana we do have the advantage of both the Mississippi (once take secure it from west Mississippi) and Red Rivers to transport goods up and down the state
but beyond that... we couldn't survive a long drawn out siege... definitely don't have the manpower and enough industry to survive
Louisiana would have to be on the offensive... and it would probably be in LA's best interest to make nice with Texas 1st (I mean... there's already a lot of Louisiana transplants in Texas to start with)

Tennessee outnumbers you gumps by 2 million and Memphis easily offsets the sideways gun holding Birmingham gangbangers
Nobody is scared of a bunch of hillbillies so the numbers are moot and the combined gangbanging forces of Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, Decatur, and the methhead mafia of Walker County are more than enough to overtake Memphis.
Alabama wins. Again,

Of the states in which I have lived (Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia, Washington, and Illinois), Illinois would be the most difficult in which to fight and take by far.
Kentucky, South Carolina, and Georgia are heavily armed and have tough physical geographies. Washington would be difficult because of the mountains and heavily armed rural population, but...
Sometimes, when I drive through Chicago, all I can see is Baghdad all over again. Mile after mile after mile of 3- and 4-story homes right next to each other as far as the eye can see. It would be urban combat hell in the 21st century. And unlike other huge American cities that I would consider peers (NYC, SF, LA, Miami, DC, etc.), Chicago isn't easily cut off from the rest of the world, making it basically impossible to truly subdue - only Dallas and Houston are similar in that it can be easily supplied in almost every direction, but Chicago is a good bit bigger and far more violent than those two.

I disagree. Sidebar: Is Wesley's Boobie Trap still open in Walker County? My wife's grandparents used to live in Jasper. Walker County is the trashiest place I've been to in the US

Southern Illinois would join us to skull frick Springfield up to Chicago. They hate those fricks for shitting on their state and making it broke.
That's funny.
Downstate are the real tax-suckers in the state. Cook County is about even as far as net state tax dollars in and out. The Chicago collar counties are the ones who get truly fricked. Downstate are the money suckers.

No idea, I try to keep as close to Birmingham as possible

Head on down to Randolph County and pay a visit to Woodland, AL if you want to see what trashy really is.

Authorities are investigating after a badly decomposed body was found in Burt Cane Creek near Dora Friday.
Walker County Coroner Joey Vick told CBS 42 that fisherman discovered the body. The body was reportedly so decomposed that the person's gender was unclear

Louisiana could beat Mississippi and Arkansas straight up. Texas would be another story. Would have to use gorilla tactics. But there are so many Mexicans in Texas I could see Texas self imploding and becoming a part of Mexico.

Texas would beat the frick out of us holy shite it would be bad. We probably beat Mississipi and Arkansas though

about the ONLY chance Louisiana has with Texas is a surprise attack that ends with Houston and the surrounding metro... maybe all the way down to Galveston... almost immediately falling into LA's hands
ETA: barring that... LA would stand pretty much no chance

Tx vs La would be interesting as both states have nuclear weapon stockpiles. Both sides of the Sabine would be so armed.

I'm not from there but knowing it well enough y'all are all really underselling Mississippi.
I don't think y'all understand how difficult a place like Mississippi would be. It's basically a pointless fight. There are no good targets and the population is sparse and spread out and has great cover with their Rolling Hills and thick forest. It's also very difficult to move through because of the underbrush and the road network isn't very extensive.
That's just if you mounted an offensive. In return from the Mississippi side of things, you talk about a population that lives in a very rural state which means a large percentage of the population is used to moving in that environment, engaging in agriculture for sustenance, handling firearms and hunting.
They also all know each other. Most people in Mississippi have been there for Generations as there's never been any real reason to have an influx of people from other states coming in. This makes it easy for them to network and form militias. They have a small population but it can be a very effective population. Your state can have 30 million people but it's not going to do you any good if they're all concentrated densely in one area that could be napalmed or they are in an open terrain without Forest cover or they are all lifelong City Slickers with no tactical skills or Wilderness survival instincts or they're all transplants from other states that don't have a large network of friends and Families in the vicinity

Tennessee would be an absolute shitshow. It's at the crossroads of the Midwest and the South. It's afforded a lot of protection especially in the east for its mountainous Terrain but there would be so many moving through there from all directions it would be like the SHTF Grand Central Station.
Western Tennessee would become a killing field with all the different states crashing into one another there. I think most tennesseans would see that coming and move most their population to the protection of the mountains in the east to avoid the klusterfuk in and around Memphis. All the interstates leading to there certainly don't help. They become super highways funneling death and destruction into a concentrated point of super density.
Oh the horror

Well Louisiana has the oil and gas, sugar, salt, cotton, timber, food supply, Armament and Naval vessels.
The questions are going to be can we get enough air support and Louisiana doesn't mine any metals that I know of. I would imagine we could sustain a while through salvaging efforts from old barges, warehouses, pipelines and the like
