Guilty right here. They keep me moving which is a good thing.

Exercise - I've worked from home for the past seven yeas and find myself getting the blues sometimes from isolation.

I go to the local park and walk two miles, then work out with weights 3-4 times a week.

Makes you feel good and look good at the same time.

Hobbies, you need to be constantly learning stuff to keep engaged. Hobbies generally force you to stay with the times

If you believe you were put on this earth for your own pleasure then you'll die miserably.

Give of yourself. Volunteer. Sacrifice for others. Do good. Utilize the talents you have for the benefit of others.

You'll be happier than you ever have.

Well, here are some random thoughts. Read a lot, make a plan for financial freedom, do some interesting things that you normally wouldn’t do, start a hobby, stay away from just hanging out with the same few friends and staying in a rut, exercise, and be spontaneous at times. Buy a nice bicycle for street and trails. Walk a lot. Google Earth those places you may think are interesting and make a plan to visit there.

I don’t travel much at all and still think about heading somewhere with some historical significance to se what it is all about.

Not a popular take but becoming a parent post-40 is selfish. I know everyone thinks they are going to live until 95. The reality is that there is a good chance you'll have health issues in your 60's and die mid-70. You want your kid to be just starting adult life when their parents get cancer? Funeral for parents when they are starting their own family? Forget actually being able to help out with the grandkids.

You should be a grandparent in your 50's, not a parent.

Interesting you say? I woke up this morning still slightly buzzed and sent a racial slur to one of my customers, whose wife is African American, on accident. Today can only get better.

You need hobbies, friends, financial stability and a solid love life to be optimized.

Not that you need all of those at the same time, but the more you have going at the same time the better off you’ll be.

I was 44 when what I'm hoping is my last child was born. You have tons of time if you shelve the porn and video games.

frick that. Mine will be 8 and 10 when I turn 44 in a year. I am all for having kids later in life (was 34 for first). Having kids is a younger persson’s game for most part. I wouldn’t have energy for a newborn at 43.

If you are a man, you don't have to rule out children in your 30's (or 70's for that matter) assuming you want a family.

That said, travel. Meet new people. Stay in crazy places. Set a lofty goal and work to achieve it.
