Depending on the level of gas, a plumbing issue could turn into fire claim.

But at least sewer smell will be gone but you have smoke and fire damage to worry about now.

I had a similar problem a few years ago except actual sewage was backing up through my icemaker drain line. Turned out had a significant grease blockage in main drain line of house. Plumber ran a pressure washer type snake through my clean out back through house.

(Note: if your AC has run, get rid of that filter no matter what you do)
