We have seen more than once that the public welfare may call upon the best citizens for their lives. Why is the author blaming Trump? Were all the poor just fine under Obama? I didn't think so.

Yes, being poor sucks, but if you have a job earning $15/ hour, you can make it. You essentially pay no taxes and get credits galore. Add in a spouse (maybe you shouldn't get married for tax reasons?) that earns the same.
So, there could be 2 people in a home that brings home $60,000 a year. With all the credits, these two can keep around $4000 a month. Tell me again how bad you have it?
If you want to,you can get even sports professionals to bitch about their contracts and claiming they have a family to feed.

You know what would probably work for the lady interviewed for that article? Sitting in Douglasville waiting for jobs to arrive.

That's 20 something miles out of Atlanta. You might have to drive a little. If you can't find a job that fits you, see what jobs are booming in the want ads, and go to school for that.

You see it all the time in public places, especially in the south: Grandma, mom, and bastard kids who are all clearly have a genetic defect or just extremely low IQs

Good catch. I'm surprised the reporter/photographer didn't ask her to take it off.

On that note, for a real, raw glimpse of poverty, I know and have seen families that live in houses similar to the ones pictured below. It really makes you realize how good we (and many others) have it.

The Post should do a story on the American families that live like such below. That would really be an eye-opener.

They literally eat better than the kings of old.

And they don’t appreciate it because they haven’t experienced real, abject poverty.

Simple chemical sterilization for those on the dole longer than a certain time, or below a certain IQ, in exchange for benefits

What are you due? You don’t get paid to wake up or ride buses. After nearly 50 years in the labor force, you’ve worked all the way up to the cheap burger assembly line. A job that anyone can do and kids willingly fill for minimum wage right up until machines take the job. Sadly, life has sorted you out and at this point, you are getting exactly what you are due.

If she’s struggling to find a good paying job then that’s on her. She’s close enough to Atlanta and Cobb and Fulton counties that are going strong plus Douglas County is not a shithole.

How many$200 pairs of Jordans in the closet? Poor people are usually poor because of their or their parents decisions. At some point the cycle of family stupidity needs to be broken.

Oh my! I see it now. Just look how under nourished they are. She looks to be starving. I bet that 1600 sq ft ranch house only has 2 bathrooms with potable and running water. And that garage only holds 2 vehicles!!
