They built to many apartments and got hit bad by the recession. Turned lots of nice, newer homes into HUD and section 8.

My wife wanted to shop for 4th of July deals (I never shop so I'm clueless on prices).
All I can say is that some people spend a shite ton on brand name clothing and shoes.
Add in phones and the occasional eating out (even fast food) and it is easy to blow through a paycheck.
I lived the broke college life. So I didn't have kids to take care of. But I could budget a lifestyle with social life for under $700/month.

But the need to have that new cell phone and they need cable TV. And they need some premium channels.
They need a truck if you are in Texas. They need a new TV. They need to go out and enjoy themselves and they need to go on vacation.
So, I wonder why they have less wealth now then they did 30 years ago when people didn't need these things and spend on all these things.

Funniest of is the fact they bring up hourly wage. Hourly wage has been affected since the influx of illegal immigrants because they work for next to nothing while piling 3-4 families in a 3 bedroom house and send all there money back to families in Mexico. But we can’t talk about that because it would be racist. Lol

Yeah. I've lived without a car, without cable, without a cell phone, and without internet and with roommates.
With a living budget under $700, I was actually able to save money for a car.

Assuming that’s her in the picture that’s quite a nice, large house for a “poor” person

That's ambiguous ... what is livable... 30 an hour.... People spend money and Live differently... that isn't 1 flat number for everyone...

8 bet she still has a thousand dollar phone, cable, flat screens, 50 thousand dollar vehicle and eats out 10 times a week, but can barely keep up. This is an indictment of the economy.
