We played pickleball in gym class 25 years ago in high school.

I don't get pickleball, but I really don't get people who are so deprived of meaning in their life that they bother themselves with being critical of other people's interests and hobbies.

You don't sound like the type of person that has many friends. Perhaps if you lightened up and tried to empathize more with people around you people would be more interested in spending time with you.

My 8 year old daughter likes to play. She says “Daddy, it’s our thing.” I don’t give a shite how goofy it looks. If it makes her happy, I’m happy to play any time.

Good job dad, keep it up.

Keep tax money to build pickleball courts out of the picture, sure, who cares.

I’ve never played. It seems fine, just another exercise trend.

Not my thing, yet if it gets people out and exercising and socializing, that's a good thing. It beats gaming all day and sitting on one's fat arse and accumulating cheeto dust on a nasty shirt.

Pickleball is good low stress exercise for me. I need some of that at almost 44. Any way to not become fat is good.
I play it with friends also. It keeps me being social outside of wife/kids. Double win for me on pickleball.

Lots of people enjoy it. It is very popular with senior citizens where I live. It is great to see older folks staying active

…..And….Anonymously on the internet…. To get attention.

How socially depraved does a person have to be to post on a college sports message board about other people’s hobbies …

You realize they have PE in HS? Lol. That makes him like 33-36

A 33-36 unathletic dork that took PE instead of playing real sports, no wonder he sticks up for pickleball

That or he is too poor for tennis, either way, trashy…

Just had a big pickleball tournament at our country club. It was a blast. Sorry you’re poor.

Hell, we’d played it in the mid-late 90’s. I was certain our PE coach made it up because I’d never heard of anyone playing it before or after I left HS.

Then, 25 years later everyone is playing. When that first started I thought “Wait a minute. Other people know about this game?”

Exact same thing for me. We played it in high school a couple of times circa '96 or so. And I was dominant at it.

It's funny when I tell people that nowadays. They look at me like I'm crazy because people think it's a brand new thing. They almost don't believe me that I played it 30 years ago.

I'd actually love to play it again since I haven't since HS. I think once the new place on Burbank opens I may go give it a try there. I bet it's pretty fun.

I mean its not my thing, but if it gets people moving who cares? I know a bunch of people that play and seem to enjoy and gets them moving for the first time in years so seems like a good thing.

is it anymore queer than playing tennis or is tennis better because it was invented first and is played by pros?

what about mens slow pitch softball? is that gay?

what about golf?

or riding a bike like the street racing guys? what about bmx?

at what distance is running/sprint gay? what about walking is that queer now too?

what about lifting weights is that queer? what about if you only lift in local meets and cant be a professional powerlifter...is that gay?

just trying to figure out what forms of exercise are acceptable for tack sweater

support anyone wanting to exercise, especially as they age. If it keeps them active, having fun, and socializing, it's a win.

didn't say that. It became popular because many places like gymnasiums, pools, beaches, bowling alleys, etc were closed or restricted. The game is quite popular all around.

You said, “what else was there to do” meaning this was people’s only option to do anything at all lol
