How often do you travel? Do you try to limit yourselves?

Wife and I (no kids) have family in Texas and Ohio, along with many friends in both places. We currently live in PA, at least a 4.5 hour drive from the closest relative. We’re close with both sides of the family so we like to see them often. It feels like we are always traveling somewhere for a wedding, family event/gathering etc.

I just counted and we have 13 weekends of this year blocked off for travel to some kind of visit/event/etc. That doesn’t even include an additional 1-2 weekends if we want to take a short weekend vacation.

I just am curious how sustainable this is, I am already getting run down from the constant travel. It’s expensive and tiresome. For those that have ever been in a similar predicament, how did you handle it? Set stricter limits on how many times you will visit family?

Once or twice a year is enough to see out of town family in my book. For some of them far less often is fine.

I don’t have family in another state but we probably don’t even go to our parents’ homes (30 minutes away and 1 hour away) more than 5x a year each.

Pretty sad how all you millennials want to travel all the time

Guess the depression pills aren’t enough of an escape for you?

I travel every day for work since I’m a welder. Get to see all parts of the country and get per diem to boot. Sorry y’all live in one location.

I do like five long weekends a year and maybe one "vacation" and that's it. Travel is pretty overrated by my generation IMO.

I didn't mind so much when I was younger but I've gotten to the point where I dislike flying so much that if I can't drive somewhere I'd rather just not go.

I used to travel 20-26 weeks a year for work. I hate flying now

Not a whole lot, but I finish up school next month and I’ve decided that we’ll take 1 big trip (5-7 days) between Jan-April and 1 big trip between September-December and then have a few smaller weekend trips sprinkled in

Two international trips, probably 12-15 national trips, and 4-6 weeks for work.

My wife travels nationally and internationally for business, so she is on the road constantly.

I lived in Charlotte and had the opportunity to move to Nashville or Baton Rouge and we chose Baton Rouge to be closer to family and friends. It has cut down on the amount of flights we take because my family is here and Texas.
