How often do you “entertain” at home?

Apparently the number of people who regular host friends or family in the US is around 12%. Seems low to me. We probably have people over once a week.

Usually just on Thanksgiving.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that we are becoming more isolated and insular as a society. We have everything we need on the little screen in front of us.

People typically go through periods where they entertain pretty frequently. These periods get less frequent as you get older. Eventually, it is limited to meals among relatives around the holidays.

What’s “regular”? Once a month sure. Every week? frick no. Have you met my people? I don’t want them around that much.

Now that they’ve moved to Bham, our son and DIL come to dinner usually about once or twice a month here at our house. My brother drops by about the same amount.
ETA: my MIL dropped by this week to check on my when I got home from the hospital.

How many LSU and Saints away games per season? Plus holidays and birthdays and random Fridays....

I find our home ironic. It’s clearly built and designed for entertainment, but we never have people over cause frick them.

Never, I want zero visitors.
They might mess up the throw pillows.

Every other night on average. It’s really gotten out of hand.

Not nearly as as much as the people on these TV shows where every room they walk into on a new house they want to buy …. They ALWAYS talk about how “perfect the space is for entertaining”

I used to when I lived in Baton Rouge but not much since I’ve moved to Spring. I will have some work functions and family over but that’s about it.

Probably about 4-5x a year for my wife and I. We'll have friends over 2-3x during football season to just watch ball. We do my fantasy football draft at my house, and aside from that just more impromptu get togethers. Our house is pretty close to the town parade route on Independence day so I've had people over after that. We get a lot of trick or treaters on halloween so we'll probably have some friends over for that this year since we have plenty of parking.
Anything more than that is just too much. I've also noticed that the couples that have people over all the time are usually split on the idea of that. One of them loves to host and overrules the other one that hates it

Rarely. Used to have several get-togethers per year before kids. Now we're tied up with their sports practices /games so the little bit of time we do have at home is used to relax.

I never want to see anybody at my house.
