this is black vs white, ignorant vs informed, takers vs payers, breeders vs parents, and squatters vs stewards. Nobody on either side is going to have any interest in giving or receiving a civics lesson when this thing goes to a vote. It will be lowest common denominator
central was a completely different set of circumstances. whether we like it or not, the opposition to st George considers that area part of Baton Rouge and they will fight to keep it

Thankfully only folks in SG get to vote.
And I think my neighbors can see through the political hacks who warn you about higher taxes while they work hard to raise your taxes.
I think they'll see the outsiders have an agenda and it's not to improve the quality of life in SG.

We live just inside of the city limits. The end of our street is St George. I expect it will cause our taxes to go up but we can always move. I still hope it happens.

I'm not sure. They have to validate the signatures first so I'd imagine sometime next year.

I say BR let’s the St George folks leave. Real estate trends say that for the first time since WW2 that more people are moving into the center of town than out to the suburbs and outskirts.
It won’t be immediate, but in twenty or so years, they will wish they didn’t break away. Not to mention I would hate living in central or Zachary. Not saying there’s anything wrong with them. I know property values are good bang for the buck there. It’s just not for me. Different strokes I guess.

It will pass. I'm thinking about paying for a billboard with nothing but a picture of Silky Slim on it, SWB's best friend. Then maybe we'll show out property tax bills and the BLM agitators. The race baiters can stew in their own juices.

I say let people decide for themselves. It's America.
And SG isn't leaving the parish, it isn't breaking away from BR, it's just incorporating. It's not revolutionary.

I don't get why you are so opposed to letting an area that BR doesn't want to incorporate become their own city.

I think we need to bring all of the white farmers who are being driven out of South Africa to STG. When they are naturalized they will officially be African Americans, so everyone will be happy and diverse.
