As little as possible. I think the one I bought cost about $700 and it's the one she picked out. Score!

Go buy something in Mexico for less than $1200. She doesn't have to know the price. If she's offended by the price of it, its a pretty obvious red flag and you will have nothing but problems with her in the future. You don't want that life man,I promise, it's an uphill battle with women like that.

Lab-created diamond
Just don't go too big to make it unrealistic

Diamonds are one of the biggest rackets in history, even if you exclude the humanitarian political aspect of it

Depends on how much she puts out. Rule of thumb is 3mos sexy time divided by pi to determine the number of carats

The more expensive the engagement ring, the higher the divorce rate. There was a study done that showed this.

If she's a gold digger, 3 month's salary. If she actually loves you for you, just get something pretty and ask her what she likes. Don't go overboard.

My mother gave me her mother's (my grandmother) engagement ring to give to Mrs. Gar. I showed it to her and said "do you want the family ring or something new?" She immediately said the family ring and it only cost me a couple hundred to get it resized and fixed up.

I got a synthetic diamond. Exactly the same except I think there’s nitrogen in it (or not, can’t remember if natural has it or not) but that’s the only way anyone can tell. Otherwise it has 100% the same characteristics of a real diamond.

Way cheaper and got A LOT more diamond for it. People are weird about it but the only difference is it was made in a lab vs pulled out of the earth by some child in the Congo. I was straight forward with my wife about it and she doesn’t care at all (I have a winner!). I remember my jeweler and mother were a little hesitant but they are much more old school.

My sister in law would’ve pitched a fit if someone gave her a synthetic diamond but thankfully I married the low maintenance sister.

Get the best cut you can afford. Then the best clarity. Very very small imperfections are fine. The ones you can only see with 10x magnification or whatever. Again, you aren’t looking at this thing day to day under a microscope. If it looks great from the distance from your head to your hand then it’s fine.

For color again, try and get the best you can. Always go with the smaller diamond with better cut, color, clarity than a larger less perfect diamond. Those 3 before are what are going to make it shine. Nobody wants a big but ugly yellow diamond.

I got my now wife a 400 dollar Emerald Ring for her engagement ring, and then got a diamond ring holder that the engagement fit into - ended up about 1200 total for all of it - and she was beyond happy.

all of that to say it depends on the person your buying for - my Wife hates Diamonds and prefers Emeralds, Sapphires and the like - that allowed me to get her things she would absolutely love, and not break the bank.

All I know is whatever you decide, it’ll still be way cheaper than the divorce.

I would also recommend a classic timeless look and not one of those gaudy rings with a square diamond that sticks out half an inch.

Not even in my top one thousand, and I've made peace with the fact that I am one of the more cringe people out there on certain things. I'm a cynical bastard on a lot of things, which I'm trying to work on along with my anger, but I refuse to be cynical about my marriage or my wife.

Exactly. I got a traditional cut on a simple band with 3 little diamonds on either side. Classic and tasteful. My sister in law has fat rocks on her hand and Jesus is it gawdy. Big diamonds though! I think that’s all she really cares about.

Thoughts and prayers to the baws that have to tread these waters.

One of the few wins my wife has in life regarding her family is she’s got her grandmother’s 3.5 carat ring.

I truly do not envy the fellows that have had to make that purchase. Tough needle to thread if you’re dealing with materialistic people.

So many factors.

How big are her tits, does she do anal, can she make a roux from scratch?

More info can help.
