How Much Of Who You Are Today Is From Your Childhood Experiences?

Psychology Question for the OT. I think a lot of us can agree that what we experience as kids shapes us into the adults we are today. Everything from good memories to childhood trauma, it all sets the template.
My question is, how much of what you experienced as a child came to define you as a person? Good or bad. I know, especially with childhood trauma, it can really affect a person in most everything they do, including destructive habits.
How much of your adult identity is separate from who you were before?

I was raised to respect my elders and women. We didn't have much, but both my parents worked hard, and I learned how to care for my possessions from them.
We only had 2 genders back then, so it was a simpler time.
Oh wait, there are still only 2 genders.

The older I become; 68 years old, the more apparent and pronounced it becomes

for every person the most impactful
regardless, everyone should reflect and be conscious of that impact while striving towards the noble and worthy cause of self improvement thru attainment of wisdom, particularly the religious/spiritual kind...

I'd say a good bit. I reflect the values that my family instilled in me and they're the main reason I am who I am today.

When I was a child, I played with plastic action heroes.
Today, I am a real-life action hero.

20 percent childhood
20 percent grade school
20 percent high school
20 percent college
20 percent adult life
This is what formed me.

My good memories are what I dwell on when I think back so that defines me. Every trauma only made me who I am today.
I trust God’s will.
I suppose if I was brainwashed into victimhood I could think of a plethora of reasons to hate family as well.

Okay, so wouldn’t that be 60% childhood if you count grade school and high school?

Probably. I don’t really consider high school as childhood, but that’s splitting hairs

I turned out much better than most folks who knew me and taught me would have bet on. Many of my teachers are still around and have told me as much. I latched on to a few role models in my teen years, which probably saved me. I suspect there are some things hidden from early childhood memories that I’m better off leaving alone.

Well, since I have the mind of a 13 yr. old in a middle aged body, I'd say 100%

Yes sir, no ma’am, work hard, take care of what you have, keep yourself and your home clean, if you borrow something, give it back the same or better than you got it.
I could go on and on , but who I am today is because my parents gave me a lot of life lessons that I didn’t realize I was learning at the time. They did a great job and now I’m really just realizing how much love they gave me.

I have a scar on my knee from tripping on a gravel driveway and splitting it open. So....like at least what, 1.5%?

Lost my mother at 8 years old. You never really get over it it just becomes a part of who you are. You live with it.
It was not until my 30’s did I realize the trauma of her death was the reason I act the way that I do and view things the way I do.
