I haven’t been in a decade. Decided I’m paying for insurance I’ll go get a cleaning. I can’t even do that. I have to go get X-rays and an exam before they will schedule my cleaning. After 2 doctors and a hygienist are in my mouth I’m told everything looks good, no cavities but you need a deep cleaning. Will take 2 visits and you will need to be numbed. That will cost you $450. Also your wisdom teeth might start hitting another tooth here is your referral to get them all out.

Why can’t I just get my damn cleaning and move in if nothing hurts and I have no cavities?

Because your nasty arse hasn't been to the dentist in 10 years so they have to break out the special equipment to get all that plaque you have caked up.

This is not a scam. This is the result of not going to the dentist for 10 years.

Seems like a great profession.
Staff handles all the work, walk in at the end of the cleaning, tap a few teeth with a metal stick. Tell them everything looks good. Roll out.

4 day work week. Retire in your early 50s

You can probably say thanks, but no thanks. Show up in 6 months for your covered cleaning.

My dad and uncle never went to the dentist when I was a kid. When they got in their 50’s they both had serious gum issues. It’s twice a year not that big a deal. Always feel refreshed afterwards also.

Is it a large corporate dental office? My wife is a dental hygienist and she has worked for a few huge practices. Every time she was expected to upsell additional services and products. Now she works for a small local practice with one doctor. No upselling on anything just simply doing what the patient actually needs. Find a different dentist.

Yes you can, you just went to the wrong dentist. Most places can get you x-rays, an exam, and a cleaning all in one day.

You started off by saying you haven't been to the dentist in ten years then proceeded to bitch about all the things the dentist says need to be done.

Dentists are a lot like auto-mechanics

How hard is it to even clean teeth these days, they all use the water jet thingy anyway. The hardly even break out a scraping tool to remove plaque from my teeth.
