$500 million

Asset acquisition…
$5m for a lake house
$15m for a large condo
$10m for a Learjet
$20m for a collection of cars at both residences

Yearly…
Taxes/maintenance would run $2m
Operational costs for the jet add another couple million
$5m utilities/food/entertainment/to play with

60 years of those yearly costs so even my kids could tell everyone to GFY. (The compounding interest would likely stretch this to their kids.)

I agree with this. That is the beginning of FU money. If you have extravagant tastes it is more.

F U money just means you can buy your way out of situations that would be damaging, crippling, or massively inconvenient to a regular person.

No. FU money is enough money that there is no one in the world you can’t tell, “FU”.

That’s not what “FU money” means.

If your house is paid off, you buy your vehicles with cash and you have $15M+ accessible to you. Maybe several bank accounts with money in high yield accounts. You sold a company and as part of the agreement you stay on for as long as you want, but with a role where you are not needed all the time.. And the income you draw from that is enough to fund your day to day living expenses.. Then you have frick you money. there are various degrees of frick you money, but that's a situation where someone would have frick you money.

Easily 2M, without kids and the right investments you can retire on this at 45. You win the game.

The correct answer is 20x your annual spend. You can survive 20 years without working

It’s relative. To a homeless guy on the street, it might be $50K. To a young in career 30 yr old, it might be $2M. To a 50-60 year old career guy, it might be $15M. And on and on.
