8.1284 pounds a week on the average. A little more in the winter.
Seriously, it's hard to buy groceries for just 2 people and not waste food. Selections are made for larger families. Have been looking at the mail order ready to cook meals like Freshly and BluApron for just this reason.

Not very much is wasted. My parents grew up through the depression years when nothing was thrown out unless it was totally inedible. I can't count the thousands of times we heard how lucky us kids were to have three meals a day. Many years later, it still serves as a reminder when things get thrown away that could have been used.

I should start a thread on this.. how does this attitude happen?
I know people like this, but I'll never understand it. It truly boggles my mind.
A tupperware in the fridge with some leftover gumbo or a styrofoam box with a couple tamales... I feel like I can't wait for next meal-time.
How do some find it so awful?

Hi you keep your vegetables, fruits, herbs from going bad if you buy all at once?

I threw a whole costco pie outside the morning.
Let the dog out and he destroyed it.
So... None?

I agree. I don't mind eating leftovers at all, sometimes several times. My wife will eat them sometimes, but she doesn't like to. My kids won't at all, and it's not like they were raised to refuse to eat leftovers. I guess you can chalk it up to another parenting mistake by spoiling them too much.

I don't know but I had an old roommate who would eat out all the time and would always leave leftovers in the fridge but he refused to eat leftovers
I basically lived off his leftovers the entire time we lived together

I don't waste any food. I turn mine into organic compost for landfills.

None. What I don’t eat I throw to my chickens. They give protein back in the form of eggs.
Any meat that is leftover is eaten at breakfast or on a sandwich.

Very little. It is my pet peeve.
We meal plan and cook on the weekends. I take leftovers to work and so does my wife. Kids are told what leftovers they can have. Then we usually cook once during the week to carry us to the weekend.
I come up with what to do with what's left in the fridge so it gets used.
We freeze alot of stuff too. Leftover oranges become a orange glaze marinade... etc.
Its work, but I enjoy cooking... so...

Very little. After two days in the fridge, leftovers get mixed in with the kibble for my three German Shepherds. This morning, they got about 3/4 pound of roast and carrots split between them. I add hot water to the mixing bowl to make sure they have lots of “gravy”.
On days there’s no leftovers, they get whole raw eggs mixed in with their food (shells and all)

When I was single I wasted a lot because you can’t buy some things in single portions. And I’m not eating the same meal 3 days in a row I.e leftovers.
With my gf coming over any night I cook or she cooks we waste very little food now

Not much. We tend to just shop for a few days at a time. And always eat leftovers for lunch.

All of my food is wasted by my kids. Have to offer them food every meal for them to tell you it’s yucky, eat the damn food kid.
It’s amazing how a 3 y/o can operate on Apple juice and cookies. That dude will skip meals for days knowing someone is going to offer him sweets eventually.

One day my kid will eat like 2 bananas, then you offer one the next day and he acts like you are poisoning him. Kids are weird.

Unfortunately an embarrassing amount.

Exactly. I will be told something is yucky that he clearly enjoyed the previous day, and asked me to make him the following day.
