Twice.
Not good to sit there and not move for 2 hours plus. I’m always moving around periodically whatever I’m doing. Whatever time this may take up, I leave that much earlier.

Does the trip include passing Billy's in Krotz Springs? If yes, then once.

One stop to ingest caffeine, in a liquid state, and make room for more. Maybe two stops if I stop for a meal & drink tea or coffee.

I agree with most of what you said. 3 hour trip? No problem for me. If l Im heading to Maine or somewhere similar? Might take the wife's car. Especially if the wife and kids were with me.

But man I love it and it meets 99% of my needs. My initial response was really about the number of stops needed. It would just be 1 stop at most for a 5 hour trip.

Once to stretch my legs out. My knees do not like to keep them in the same position and you can only stretch them in the car so much

Assuming you have a house fast charger?

And that's awesome, I'm so glad it works for you and your family. No doubt they are a cool concept and perfect for someone who's doing short jaunts to places with fast chargers.

Of course, when you are one of the relatively few innovators it's a novel and sustainable thing.

If everyone started having one...#1 the infrastructure would take forever, #2 the sources of power generation for that level are going to be, at the end of the day, mostly hydrocarbon based. Even the "green" methods need hydrocarbons. We should be pushing nuclear but that's another thread.

For now, gas is still the best choice

The drive through Kansas was absolutely brutal

We did Kansas once. That was enough. We drive through Texas. We stop near the New Mexico line in Rita Blanca National Grassland and camp. The drive into Colorado from the south up I25 is beautiful, especially compared to the rolling plains of Kansas and eastern CO.

My washer and dryer room shares a wall with the garage. Use a SplitVolt to connect to the 240 dryer plug. Less than $500 and got that back after the Alabama Power rebate. Charge from 9PM to 5AM at a reduced Alabama Power rate. Really works well for me.

To your point, I doubt it would be that nice if half the neighborhood had EVs charging at the same time though. Only a few in the hood here.

Right? You lose the "cool" factor too.

Like I said I'm impressed by the EV in pretty much everything but range and longevity and cost and how environmentally destructive their production is (and being pushed as some sort of green savior).

But as pure driving machines...their Hp is insane. Ridiculous toque, acceleration. It's downright scary if you aren't ready for it.

Also their quietness is unsettling. I keep expecting engine noises and get...nothing. Also don't care for a knob shifter...

But seriously I'm glad you like yours and it serves yall well for a long time

Half the fun of traveling somewhere by car is to get out and stretch your legs, not worry about time.

Please don't ever bring me traveling with you. Let me guess you also like to take the back roads.

For 5 hours, the car should start full and one bathroom stop, maybe two if I've had a lot of caffeine via Diet Coke for an early morning drive.

Once...for whatever reason...bathroom break,? Hungry? Fuel?

But when I do...I take care of all 3. I get snacks, pee, and fill up every time I stop.

Travel tip: Buy a case of water from Sam's or Costco. Keep in your vehicle.

Stop when I’m out of gas.

I call it the 3 F’s. Food, fuel and facilities. That’s about 5 hours in my truck.

Stop at any exit I want to see the sights...

Back in the day, always in a hurry...

Yeah, less people. If I have the time why not?

What is so damn important at the next stop that makes the drive that insignificant?

0 times, once on a 10 hour drive. I just hate the idea of stopping knowing I got so much further to go.
