I’m not so much worried about the physical side effects for people. I am more worried about the reality they aren’t helping. Morbid Obesity for many is a coping mechanism similar to addiction. It’s either hiding a trauma of some sort or Peter Pan syndrome. An inability to handle stress or to mentally mature or to make the right choices. Until you confront that trauma, you’re only treating the symptoms but not the root cause.

If you got obese because you have an addictive personality or because you’re refusing to confront a darkness in your life, using ozempic to get thin may help you physically but mentally and spiritually you’re still broken.

I don’t know what the answer to a national mental health crisis is, but we are wholly gripped in one in this country right now. We have perverted compassion and humanity twisted to prefer a subjugation to our base desires and a cold brutal ignoring of people who need help.

What is an "ol lady"?

I have a wife, but not an "ol lady". But she's not on ozempic or any of the other ones.

Not really sure why people think it's "cool and edgy" to make fun or belittle those who are on these types of shots to lose weight. At least they are doing something proactive about their situation.

First they get people addicted to eating the food that’s littered with additives, added sugars, and preservatives, and then once you’re large and in charge, they get you on magic medicine to counteract the effects from the food, and soon they will have something else to counteract the effects from it, or a class action suit to line the pockets of attorneys who want in on the action.

I don’t think you have to have a medical degree or even a four year undergrad to see how none of this is actually going to be sustainable for human beings long term.

Wow, just wow, did she seek counseling for this behavior?

I wonder how many anti-vax people are more than willing to jump on the Ozempic bandwagon.

If it gets someone "out of the ditch", motivated, and feeling good about themselves, I'm ok with it as long as it's not long term. I'm guessing 3, no more than 4 months...? I'm wary of the long-term effects.

Agree completely. But the limited accounts I’ve heard from people we know involve doctors saying, “this is just something you do now.”

There's a lady MD, Dr Boz on YT who is a keto guru, and she just had a video discussing the glp1 hormone and using allulose. She made some protein-based ice cream while sweetening it with allulose. She monitored her blood sugar and it stayed about 68 the whole time. It wasn't affected. She referred to "2nd Generation" glp1 drugs which won't have the gut side-effects like the 1st generation she heard about at a recent conference she attended. She's usually very strict keto, ie no "keto" snacks, etc. But she was surprised the home made ice cream didn't effect her blood sugar. I'll see if I can find the link.

Lol. I guess it's human nature to want others to think I'm exercising, eating right, etc. when the whole time, I've just been getting an injection. And that's where the problem is. There's no real change in eating habits or exercising regime. I can still eat junk, get a shot, and lose weight. Literally have your cake and eat it too.

why is this something to aspire to? Fresh food is so much better tasting and quite obviously better for your health, and it’s not more expensive. The only advantage to eating garbage is convenience, as in “I will eat this garbage with full knowledge of its likelihood to make me sick, for no other reason than I’m lazy”

uh no

Celery does not taste better than a Dorito.

Even Doritos with ashes.

Yeah I have eliminated my true sweet tooth. Haven’t eaten added sugar in any material amount since 2016. But I do like to cleanse the palate at night. Usually yogurt and berries, 90% dark chocolate or a stevia or allulose-sweetened dessert.

When you're on a meal suppressant eating healthy is almost more important than when trying to lose weight "the old way"

The other problem is that sometimes if you struggle with portion sizes I would tell them to practice eating like that day to day so when no shot you know all the amounts you can eat without overeating to kick the shot.

Not me.

I prefer ones that use exercise to stay fit.

I mean, i can lift weights and do BJJ during the week, they can do some sort of exercise

At 19 I went from 280 to 180. Many years later I moved back to Monroe for family and lost my motivation. I think over those 3 years it was, got real bad at 307, dropped back down to 180. Stayed there for years until my wife got pregnant with twins and didn't want me to stay that skinny while she blew back up. Sitting at my normal 280
