I have not lived in LA since 2008. I lived in NOLA for about a year post grad school.
My whole family minus my wife/kids live in NOLA still so I still maintain ties.

I live in Lafayette, I can't imagine my quality of life is much worse here than most of suburbia around the country.

In NOLA at the moment. Had 5 armed robberies in my area last weekend, that's the kind of thrill I'm looking for.

Im mid-40s and have spent roughly half my life in states other than Louisiana. .. Mostly due to pursuit of various work opportunities, but also to place myself as far away as i can from all my white trash family drama that seems to happen all the time, cousins in and out of jail, other family members fighting with each other constantly , etc.. just toxic to be around.

i will say since i have been on here(roughly 20 years) there has been a huge change in the %. So many are leaving now compared to even a decade ago. unless you are in engineering, a lawyer, or work in the plants....it doesnt do you a lot of good to stay. There are some other industries but in general most people dont have great futures staying here.
