Brah, i did, but i started too late and ran out of time. I tried to read it at first and lost interest reading it and dazed into la la land. By the time i finished reading it, i had no idea what i read b/c i wasn't paying attention in my own head. then i started to read the questions and try to go back, but i just didn't give a shite at that point. It was the last section of the test and i was ready to go.
I did make a 35 on the math, so i'm not a complete idiot.

I think most kids go up about 7 points from their 7th grade score. I know 3 that went up 9 from a 19.

With the money Tulane offered, daddy would have still been on the hook for $50k a year. Even with full TOPS and stipends and shite, LSU is still $12k with room and board. She has friends who can be considered minorities or first in their family to go to college and they got substantially more cash and incentives with lower scores. Yay diversity.

Well from Googling, the avg ACT score is 20.8. I assume that’s lower for Louisiana That means your child has 5 years to raise it 2 points to be above average. I’d say he’s got a great shot!

It got me into LSU with some nice TOPS money no problem. That’s all that I wanted out of it.

Public school. English was a second language to us in 7th grade. We did learn to fight with knives that year.

Took it as a freshman or sophomore year. I honestly had no clue there were sections other than Math and English. Was surprised by that on test day, Haha. Teachers only talked about it in my Math and English classes comparing stuff we did to the ACT. Never talked about it in "science" class and I wasn't an idiot so it's not like I had "reading". Made a 25 and got into LSU and never even thought about taking it again.

What did he score? I didn't take the ACT, but apparently my score would have been either a 33 or a 35, depending on the source.
I got $100K or more from USC (LA) and Tulane, and would have paid less than 5K a year for Florida and A&M. This is when the estimated 4 year cost of private schools was about 160K total. The USC, Florida, and A&M offers were all unsolicited too. I got letters from them saying those were guaranteed if I enrolled. I can't imagine it's changed that much in 14 years.
Since you mention TOPS, you must be a Louisiana resident. The Tulane thing shocks me the most since they had ridiculously easy to meet scholarships for Louisiana kids back then.
My SAT score from 7th grade is apparently a 22 on the ACT, fwiw.

I got a 30 and my fee bill was like $3600 a semester with a couple hundred bucks of fraternities charges on that. Not sure why yours is so high. TOPS pays tuition plus $400/semester stipend. Then there was a deal that anyone with over a 27 got for $1500/semseter (Tiger Excellence Award or something like that) plus any other little thing you may have gotten.
Dorms are expensive, but not that expensive.

I'm guessing you went before fees started being as high as tuition.

This is what a lot of people don’t understand. The test is a means to an end.
The score you want depends on what you want out of it. If you wanna go Ivy League, grab some review books, study hard for it over the four years you’re in high school, and score as high as you can. If you’re looking to get into LSU, you may just be able to coast off of your classes, score high enough to get in, and never think about it again.
If you wanna get into Ole Miss, you just show up to the test, they check your pulse, and if you have one you get an offer letter.
