FYI, they’re supposed to be spinning counterclockwise during the summer, and YES it does make a difference

So you honestly think most people do not want to feel the ceiling fan blowing during the summer?

The reason people don’t switch directions during the winter is because winter in the south is typically about a week or 2.

How do you live on the gulf coast and not know how a ceiling fan works?

probably not. i haven’t run my heater in god knows when. you don’t really need it if your house is well insulated

2x6 walls. I only turned the heat on the bedroom unit maybe a hand full of times in the last year. The other two units stay on A/C year round. Definitely not changing the fan direction. Plus, we only have fans in the bedrooms. The OT told me living room fans are trashy.

Our home in FL has the A/C on year round and that one has living room fans but it's ok because it's Florida and the OT says trashy is ok there.

I’ve always s known this and keep my AC in most of the year. No need to change the fans.

Most of the people I know that don't have high ceilings just turn their fans off when it gets cold in the winter.

My ex-wife used to forget which way the fans were supposed to turn. I had to explain to her that it was, in fact, still just a fan. If it's hot, you want the fan to blow on you. If it's cold, you don't. It's not Calculus, don't over-complicate it.

I actually do know this but I will have to check when I get home, sometimes I change them sometimes I don’t. 12 foot ceilings and the switch is on the fan motor so have to get a ladder

My house fans, and my patio fans, I reverse with the seasons, because it makes a difference. I have two fans in my outdoor kitchen that run in reverse, or blow upwards, year round, and there is a reason for that. The fans suck the smoke out of that kitchen and blow the smoke up through the ridge vent in the roof.

It's obvious OP just found this out after having his spin the wrong direction for his entire life.
