FYI, they’re supposed to be spinning counterclockwise during the summer, and YES it does make a difference

I’d be willing to bet half this place never even knew this

I never take the time to flip the switch each season.

Does it really matter if you live along the Gulf Coast?

Only for the 5 minutes that you test the heater and get the smell out.

I would be willing to bet most people have them spinning the correct way now that it is hot since that’s the default when buying them.

In the winter, it’s probably a different story as few people will switch it for the updraft (even ones who know better).

I actually never knew this, so humor me some more. What is it about a counterclockwise spin that creates a downdraft and a clockwise spin that creates an updraft?

Jesus… sorry OP, I retract my previous statement…

Blades are angled on ceiling fans. One direction spin pushes air down and opposite spin pushes the air upward.
Flip the switch and try out this wild experiment for yourself.

I figured it had to do with the angles of the fan blades, but since OP and I suppose you were in a teaching mood, figured I would just ask. Thanks. (I don’t vote)

They are pointed in a different direction depending on ceiling height and occupancy.

Bedroom always blows down.

Living room with hearth always blows down. Warms the room better.

Baby room always blows up. Cycles the heat around his room and stops him from getting a chill.

All others are pointed down because i haven't stepped foot in most of the rooms in 4 or 5 months

Rich daddy isn’t a requirement. A lot of times (probably an overall higher percentage of posters on this site than the general population)daddy is retarded too-thus the water headed kid doesn’t fall far from the branch less tree.
