I do Uber Eats 6-10 hours a week. Only work weekend nights from about 5:30-8:00. If orders are good, I’ll sometimes work till 9:00. If orders are shitty, I’ll sign off at 7:00. 90% of my orders are Metairie east of Transcontinental and Lakeview up to the Orleans Canal. Always take orders paying at least $2 a mile. I’ll take a well paying order to Harahan/ River Ridge and occasionally to Kenner. I try not to deliver to any apartment complexes. After doing it awhile you learn the restaurants to stay away from because they always make you wait for the order.
I’m able to average $20-$40 an hour. And I don’t work in the rain, like tonight.
I think there's this perception that there's more "clout" to working in a restaurant than doing Uber/Lyft/Uber Eats/Door Dash, etc...but so long as you're doing it as a side gig, it can be very profitable.
You have a great system in place. You need a system on what orders (or rides) you're accepting, what the financials need to look like to accept a ride/order, etc. If you're accepting every order/ride, you're going to be in trouble after expenses.
Working as in rideshare has made me appreciate customer service workers more and given me more appreciation for Uber drivers and what they go through when when I'm an Uber passenger now.
Really happy I decided to start driving and can't believe I've done it for a few years already and that I've done a few thousand rides.

Not working in this space, the videos highlighting charge backs, non deliveries, harassment complaints, etc., make me think this costs people more money than they make doing the work. "The restaurant didn't include ranch, 1 star, no tip!" kind of crap directed at the driver. How prevalent?

I mow a few lawns for boomers in my neighborhood. Make 150/week on it. Takes me about 2 hours. They keep trying to jew me down on the rates.
I found a great guy to do my lawn, I always pay him $20 a week more than he quoted me. Pay good service people well, you'll never regret it.

I don't do deliveries, but you will occasionally get someone who just makes up a BS excuse "Not Polite," "Illegal Driving," etc because they want a free ride or because they have some ridiculous vendetta because they set the pickup/drop-off wrong, or whatever the stupid reason is.
But, generally, if you're nice, have a semi-clean car, and don't smell, a driver should never fall below 4.95 stars (unless they're just starting out) and CERTAINLY never fall below 4.90 stars. It's very hard as a driver to fall below 4.90 stars. I am a 4.99 right now.

My favorite drivers are former Eastern Europeans and Africans that can't stop talking about how much they love America, followed by Latinos that speak zero English.

Was a ton of work up front but now I clear an extra 10-15k per month for what takes me about 4-6 hrs a week

Worked 40 years as a Plant Baw. Don’t need the money. My investments make me more than when I worked. Originally thought I’d work event staff for LSU. Thought it was volunteer work. It pays an hourly rate which means to me that I have to be obligated to a schedule. I don’t want or need obligations.

I donate plasma twice a week at Biolife and make $110 to $130 a week, but don't really do it for the money, there is a reason they pay that much for plasma, it helps save lives. In and out in a hour each time.

If you know how to use a paint brush you don’t have to tape and you don’t get paint everywhere to clean up. Don’t be an animal man.

If he wanted twenty bucks more he would’ve just quoted you twenty bucks more. He’ll still cut your lawn at the originally quoted price.
