I think somewhere from 3-5. Coyotes aren't that big, could take em on pretty well just by sheer size advantage. But more than 5 and that's just overpowering by numbers.

I'm in flight until I have the high ground and my back is protected. Then if its life or death I guess I'd find out.

1 is the only number I would feel "comfortable" with - kick it, pin it and slit its throat. I don't know much about coyotes, but I imagine even one more would make things very dicey.

The question is inherently dumb because that's not how it works.

It's more like, if a pack of 10 coyotes attacked how many would you kill before you died? Or

How big of a pack of coyotes would you be able to defend against? 3? 5?

As said, if you have a knife the key is to be the aggressor and use what you can against them. Wrap your other arm in a shirt so you have a shield arm. With your adrenaline and a knife, most would kill a lot of coyotes before they killed you. I'd be drop kicking the hell out of them, avg coyote is 25 lbs.

I would rather just pick up a heavy limb. Coyotes are pretty easy to kill with blunt force trauma. Any grown man with a half arse swing can kill one.
