Probably the only thing I would miss is home entertainment, mainly movies and games since I did grow up with Nintendo and VHS movies. Other than that I think I'd be fine. I didn't have a cell phone until I was a senior in high school and it was just a Nokia brick my parents let me borrow for emergencies since I was driving to school.
I'd probably just spend my time going to concerts. A lot of good rock music in that decade. You had Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Lynard Skynyrd, KISS, Boston, Pink Floyd, etc.

It's not that big a deal. Granted smart phones have improved in the last 5 years or so but it wasn't THAT different when my wife and I went to Fiji and New Zealand for 6 weeks. Very little use of our devices while we were backpacking and touring the two countries. It was actually awesome to use the maps in the guidebooks and read actual books.
The hardest thing for me would probably be not having music and audiobooks to listen to while running/working out/walking the dog. I've grown pretty addicted to that.

Easy as hell. It would be almost enjoyable minus the inability to watch movies and sports in HD on a 70" flat screen
As long as I have AC and water heaters, I'm golden.

Yeah, it's not like you would have a choice. You would just immediately adjust to it.

Not sure bout the rest of you, but I lived great in 78, and I’d be just fine.
Screw Google. I long for the days when you just didn’t know something, you said... “ you know what? I don’t know” and everything was just fine.

This, all else I can do without.

I Civil War reenact. At events, by mid-Saturday (get there Friday night), I'm actually good without using my phone other than checking to make sure no catastrophe has happened in the world or with my family.
Hardest part would be the quick random trivia like, "How old is *insert celebrity*?" "When was President Nixon inaugurated?" "Where is the oldest bar in the world?" etc. Stuff you'd have to take your time to go to a library, expert, or encyclopedia for. If we were dropped in 1978 like you suggest, I think I'd adjust alright.

With telephones being good and not intrusive? Bring it on.

I could watch all these millennials and genx folks freak the frick out.
I was born in 69 (GenX) and wish every day to be back in the 70s. Don't get us confused with the millennials...

It would take a little while, but I’d manage just fine.

I can promise you, bushes caused diamond cutters.

I feel anyone born in or before 1985 would be just fine.

Better question - How many would survive if the grid went down?

Highly recommend you read ‘One Second After’
Short answer: A lot of dead folk in a short period of time
