Why do we need a choir and all that jazz? When did church become an entertainment center?

I'd be more concerned your church ain't teaching u shite lol

Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord. Ephesians 5-19

Short answer- the Bible tells us to, multiple times

Long answer- god wants you praise him. Most people think the choir is there for their entertainment. The choir is there as an example as to how you should be praising God. They are showing you how to praise God. So the next time you are in church don't listen, enthusiastic ly sing along

My church runs about 3 hours each week on Saturday (usually around 6PM- sometimes at 11 AM which I hate going to).

Only offer services during the fall and for some reason usually do not offer on the last weekend of October.

bullshite.

It's closer to 4 hours

Your church lasts 3.5 hours?

That's insane.

We went 90 minutes at a Baptist church, and I thought it was way too long.

3 worship songs = 10 minutes

Welcome message = 3 minutes

Shake hands/wink at the lady whose husband said too much at the men's breakfast prayer = 1 minute

Sermon = 20 minutes

Tithes and offerings and song = 5 minutes

Please come back with more money ending = 1 minute

40 minutes. Give em 45 minutes as a nice gesture. That's all you need.

A lot of us just believe that organized religion is not the answer to attaining spirituality.

Have you read any of the new testament? All of the letters clearly lay out church organization. Corporate worship is a big part of religion/spirituality. I had this same argument with some family members for years.

My Catholic wedding was a 15 minute ceremony with our only parents

Our party wedding was 15 minutes with 300 people then a 5 hour party.

Still winning.

10:30-Noon, usually.

You make $200 per week?

Why don't you do what you really want to do and stay home.

We go from 9:20 to roughly 10:40-ish.

Not quite an hour and a half.
