hour and 10 minutes usually.

9:30 to 10:40 most Sundays.

i keep kids during the 11:00 hour and i want to choke my cajun pastor out when people aren't getting their kids till 12:30.

Yeah, it took me a long time to understand that. I am on the books as Episcopalian and if I was going to go back, that would be the direction I would head. Services were sacramental and lasted no more than 60 minutes. However, what I find is that most males sitting in church are normally there because of pressure from their wives. The female gender is normally more into church than males.

The other thing is that I am not going to sit there and let some ignorant a-hole tell me how to live, try to take my money (those bastards know nothing about making an honest living), slip by my house for a free meal, or slip by my house for free pussy while I am at work (seen this happen to more households than I care to remember). I just don't have any use for them. As for the New Testament, go back and do some serious research on how it was written, how which books were included, and who was "believed" to have really written them. If you do the homework authentically, you come away with a different perspective. Also, I refer you to the Thomas Jefferson version of the New Testament (check it out on Wikipedia for convenience's sake).

I am not going to automatically pronounce folks stupid for being religious. Different things get different people through life. I respect their right to worship as they please, as long as they respect my right to no longer practice. I simply got to where I wasn't getting anything out of it any longer. I was married a long time and we had both put a lot of sweat equity into our then church. When the divorce happened, all I heard was "rely on God." My response to that was that and $4.50 would get me a large hot latte at McDonalds. I needed real answers. Instead, the church simply kept trying to see what else it could extract. There was nothing left to give as the institution had essentially destroyed our marriage and home. I also found it interesting that institutions that go out and raise money to minister to the proverbial starving children in some third world country couldn't or wouldn't minister to one of their own in their time of need. Several years later when my mother died, they were the phone wanting to know if we needed food. The answer was "no" and "you weren't there when I really needed you. If I don't feel like cooking, I'll go out." It seems to be when the issue is a broken home, there's no one to be found in these institutions. Long story, I maneuvered the trail without them, thanks to a couple of close friends, and I can do without them now. The church may do good for some, but I simply got to where I have no use for the institution. Over time, it turned both of my kids off as well without any encouragement from me. Their mother and the minister ceased their relationship a long time ago. Given that bastard ruined our lives I went to the bishop and got him transferred from a $85k to a $25K church for the remainder of his career, so I was at least able to hurt him a bit where it counted. Granted, it takes two to tango. The former spouse is no longer religious, and she will enjoy her latter years in financial poverty. All of that happened in the name of jee'zus. Consequently, I can do without that crap. However, I know that religion does help keep some folks' heads screwed on, and if that is what works for them, than I am certainly not going to condemn it as long as it stays on their side of the road.
